Have this happend to you or your evo ?
It doesn't matter that drunk driving kills more people, fact is street racing does kill, look for the thread on the DC area member who just died the other day from street racing. There is a reason we get profiled by the police, because people with modified cars are by definition more than likely to participate in street racing. I used to whine about getting pulled over for no reason too, but then I realized that the profiling comes with the territory. So stop *****ing about it and try to fix the problem...stop street racing you morons!
On the topic of street racing, everyone knows it dumb and i agree that there should be searious consequences for it. But just like Pr3z said there are other things that take more lifes in a car per year than street racing but its banned from the forums, its this horrible thing in so many peoples eyes while the real killers dont get near the severity of punishment. If the cops would crush peoples cars who get convicted of a dui i bet there would be alot less drunks on the road.
Oh and here in south carolina you can get rid of a DUI with a slap on the wrist as long as you still have you PTI left. PTI is like a get out of jail free card here and all in amount to is a bunch of money and some community service. You ask me how i know, my roomate got caught for a DUI, open container, and a minor in posetion charge leaveing a party one night(he was bringing the cooler back to the apartment after a tailgating party and got pulled over, hadnt drank a beer in like 3 hours thought he was okay so against my advice drove home) What did he get, like 25 hours of community service. My other roomate got a MIP by its self and had to do 30 hours of community service. The jsutice system for traffic violations is messed up pretty bad around here and it seems cali is the same if not worse.
How about mountain runs? Ive done them and i see people posting on here all the time talking about them. Street racing is banned from the forum but mountain runs arent? Please some one explain. Not the jack the thread but ive been wondering this alot lately.

NOT TRUE
I read that article in the news paper. The reason why those cars got crushed was because they had illegal or stolen parts in them.
One of the guy said that he had receipts for the part, but that receipt was from his dad's mechanic shop so the cops crushed his car.
Another guy said that the VIN # of those parts on his car fell out as he was driving. That is a total bull.
So they only crush your car if you have stolen parts in it.

As for drunks, hell, crush their cars too.
^ you have got to be kidding me. How many peoples FMIC have serial numbers on them? How many peoples intakes have serial numbers on them? Now either im getting compltely ripped on and sold some stolen crap from some shops or that BS. I know they can give you violations for modifications like ride height, sounds and smog crap but how can they prove you stole the parts and then seize your car. Remeber your innocent until PROVEN guilty. I think alot of people forget that fact. Its on the state to PROVE you commited the crime.
here is another video.. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=exgEkySxDFc
i feel bad for those stupid *** rules crushing cars for street racing. Dosenīt make sence but i agree with the Drunk driver why donīt the crush theyīr cars?

When I built my car - salvaged title - they had to check my major parts to make sure none of it was stolen. They did not check the "Small" parts like the FMIC, intake, or other parts like that. What they checked were the body panels, engine, head, and transmission.
And it is because the cars had stolen parts. Not just that they were street racing, though that is obviously a big part of the issue. (read: reporters are stupid and don't report the full story)
As for the DUI/Street Racing/Deaths... Street Racing itself isn't as dangerous as it is that kids with NO ability to handle their cars are doing it. That, to me, is as dangerous as the DUI's.
The whole situation has a bad smell to it. I agree that it's BS, but there's obviously something else going on here.
P.S. I think they should tear them down and resell the parts (that are not stolen) to make some $ for the state, rather than crush them. Granted, that would require the gov't to have a few more braincells than they currently have.

^ thanks for the clearer explaination about the stolen parts issue. I knew there was no way they could do all this because some one had a suspected stolen intake on thre car, lol.
heh, its probably because in a lot of these dui cases, there isnt much of a car left to crush.
but on a serious note, good point about the law being more lenient on dui situations. i think that crushing a street racers car has more impact on the street racer than crushing a dui persons car. a dui person may see a financial investment being destroyed, but for people like us, who look at cars in a different light, it may have a permanent impact.
i dont know, thats just my .02

didn't read through all the posts, so someone might have said this already...
The cars they crush in these clips the cops keep releasing are cars with stolen parts, scratched off vins, etc...
They are just trying to scare you..

Frankly I think it is bull****.
Street racing kills how many every year?
How many does Drunk driving kill? A **** TON. Yet they don't take their cars and crush them? Why not? It's a far more deadly violation?
You know why because street racing is a minority. A large population of people can say they have received a DUI or whatever your state calls it. I bet if people knew their car would be crushed if they received a DUI they would stop driving drunk.
Everyone always says they are against street racing but I guarantee if you drive your Evo on the street you have engaged in a speed contest and to say you haven't is complete and utter bull****.
Something tells me a small group of people out street racing at 3am on empty roads vs. a drunk at 1am cruising home, that the drunk has a much greater chance of hitting or killing someone vs. the group of sober people on empty roads.
Again I think the government is not looking at the big picture and singling out a very small issue instead of dealing with a real problem.

You have a great point.. i couldnt agree with u more....
Wow, so now everyone in Cali/Ontario is gonna run from the cops.... Which is even more dangerous than street racing.... Maybe they should look at the net results of their actions as opposed to being @$$holes.
I didnt see any domestics in that pile either... apparently the overly modded street rods everywhere dont apply.

^ They get away with it the same way they get away with taking a drug dealers money when they get caught. I mean its involved in a illegal activity so they have all the rights to take it.
