Feeling a difference in shifting/pickup

Hi!

Not sure where to post this so I hope this is the correct area.

Have a new evo 06. 16k miles. Just recently I noticed that it kinda .. lags when i shift. It doesnt have that pickup and go it had 1000k ago. I noticed that from a dead stop, that i need more gas pedal then i use to and takes alittle bit to get going.

I have to take it in for a oil change this weekend and am going to ask them to look into it, the question or request i have is, what should i have them focus on?

I am thinking, fuel, turbo or clutch. It could be the transmission also.. or (e) all the above? Just want to narrow it down.. (well thats the idea at least!)

thanks in advance.

My evo feels the same way. I spoke to someone else with the same evo as me and he has the same problem as well. I'm guessing its just the way evo's low end power is but I could be wrong.

thanks for the reply, bad thing is.. it wasnt like this prior to this week.. (yesterday as a matter of fact).

Hoping some of you guys who really drive your evo's have some ideas. I dont go over 80mph and keep the rpm's decent. (ok .. once i went fast-fast.. but while i am older, i still have that need for speed!

/thanks again

In your guys' cases, this probably is irrelevant, but... I have found, as many others have, that we do become desensitized to the badass power our cars have. It felt pretty darn fast the first month stock... Then if felt fast again once you got a tune... Then the cams made it fast... Basically you just get used to the power and think it's not really there.

And the low-end power is weak either way.

I agree! My car traps 112-113mph and feels slow, I hardly drive it anymore maybe 20 miles a week. The only time it feels quick is if I drive the minivan all week then drive the EVO and floor it in first and second and then if feels quick until I hit third then it's slow again.

Desensitized, I agree

On my stock turbo I did feel that the car was very laggy in-between shifts.. The 30R spool alot faster in-between shifts. Getting use to a fast car does suck thou..

I have that same experience, I think its just the car getting worn in.

Not at 16K and cars gain power after breakin.

its either you or maybe you need to do a boost/vac leak check.

i assume you checked every clamp on the car when you bought it. did you change your plugs. do a compression test.

Great advice, I would pull the plugs and give them a look and do a boost leak test.

yeppers, great idea on the boost check.. i think thats more inline with what i am seeing. out of first gear, it takes some babying, more then it use to.. and through the gears, not as responsive as it use to be.. i will check the clamps also, and i didnt check it when i got it.. hey, it was new..
