Some newbie offered to buy a part off me not too long ago...he had like 2 posts, and just left a cell number and even though i had pics in the thread, he insisted on meeting me at my house so he could see this part...way too shady for me man.

as blue evo suggested, if you are going to meet, do it somewhere very close to you but a public location....otherwise, someone else will take it, hang in there!

So here is my story, Im trying to sell these set of wheels I have on the for sale forum. I get PMs here and there. It's all good until some leads me on that they will buy it and never goes through.

Tonite was something special. I had an email asking me to give them a call so I called. I spoke to the person and we agreed that Ill be around her neighborhood around 1030-11pm. I told her it's gonna be a little later becuase I have to drive 30 mins to my parents house to get the wheels and then drive another 40 mins to get to her. I was even willing to drive it to her house.

So around 945pm I called her to find out if it's ok to come by a little early... no response. I figured I start drive since I still have a long way to go. Around 1015, I called again... same result, no pick up and just voice mail.

So I detoured towards my house and I called for the last time around 1030 and nothing again. At that point, I gave up and called it a night.

I just dont understand my some people never follow through with their words.

I know exactly how you feel, and I am sorry to say, the experiences I have had have made this car forum seem to be the most flakey of them all. I do not know if it is the generally younger age and immaturity of several of the Evo owners, but it has been like something I have never seen before. The weird thing is that I have been in both the buying and selling positions here to experience it.

As a buyer, I was looking for several months to find a blue or white Evo. I put up a post and people would PM me wanting me to buy their car. I replied to them and requested more information. Basic stuff like pictures of the car, service history, and so on. It got to be almost comical how many people would flake out and never send me any additional information after soliciting ME to buy their car. I even told those that had really interesting cars, look, if I like your car, I will be to wherever you are within 1-2 days to pick it up. Seller after seller flaked. They would not even reply to PMs asking if they were still selling or not! ARGH! How flippin' hard is it to reply? Do you want to sell your car or not? You contacted ME!!

Finally I found a car on here with a more mature owner, I sent him a PM saying I was interested in his car, was tired of bull$hitting around with people on the forum who flaked out, and call me if he is serious about selling. He called that night, and by lunch time the next day I traveled to his state and bought the car. Simple as that.

As a seller, I have had a bunch of people PM me about some parts I am looking to swap out for OEM parts. Tons of PMs, a few early flakes, and then the serious flakes. The serious flakes are the ones that AGREE TO THE DEAL, and then disappear! No replies to phone, email, or PM. I even expressed to everyone that I was on a time crunch, needed this done quickly, and if you changed your mind just let me know....no replies. So much for me being considerate and trying to hold someones place in line and be an upstanding seller. It boggles my mind how these people get through the day. How hard is it to be a man and say, 'Sorry...changed my mind,' and let the seller move on? Evidently it is pretty freaking hard on here. No courtesy for other peoples time whatsoever.

Now, I know not everyone on here is like that, but speaking from my experiences alone, the ratio of flakes seems to be much higher than I have experienced before, making it harder for normal people to do real deals. I am not talking about someone that forgets to reply to a single PM, because we all have probably done that by accident. I am talking about the tool bags that ignore 4 or more messages with no response. I hope to heck it changes, because it is frustrating as all heck.

^^^^^I agree 100%.

Whatever happened to at least confirming you got the pm.

How hard is a "sorry, I already sold it" or a "sorry, I don't need it anymore".

I think a lot of it has to do with the maturity of the forum members. I am guessing with the younger crowd their available funds swing back and forth from extremes. I mean you might have money burning a hole in your pocket one second and in debt the next. It is all understandable, just don't be a flake.

You people that deal with shady people should start using the buyer/seller feedback feature, below the users username

Ya it sucks. I was selling an old cadillac and people would call all the time and say "Oh ya I'll be around today with cash in hand." 80-90 percent of people never came by. I don't understand why you would put forth all the effort on the phone and talk to someone to not bother coming by, or holding up your end of the bargain.

I thought about that....but what would I leave? 'Person was inconsiderate and never returned PMs or email'? I figured you were only supposed to leave feedback for completed transactions.

I'm not sure, maybe the moderaters can answer the question better than I can....

but then again, I think this "buyer/seller" feedback thing can be abused....maybe a mod can chime in...

Be extremely careful of those scammers. They are everywhere buddy. I almost lost a lot of money this one time I wanted to buy an MR2 from the MR2 board. Another time, I was selling my ex-MR2 turbo and they ask me to send my car first before they wired me the money. Now who in their right mind would send their car first before the cash? Anyways, I didn't. So be patience and careful and you'll find the right buyer
