Lancer Evolution VII or Skyline?
Lancer Evolution VII or Skyline?
I just want to know some of your honest opinions. I have been looking at both the 2003 Skyline and the Lancer Evolution VII. If you've played GT3-A Spec, then you know what I'm talking about. That game is very close to the real cars. The thing about the Skyline is it's a beast, and even though the Lancer is faster 0-60, after 60, the Skyline will be leading easily. So, please don't leave anything non related to this thread, I want to know which one is better overall. The Lancer and the Skyline are both 4WD and the Skyline might be turbo, very little info. is posted on the net about the Skyline. The only thing certain is that Nissan announced the Skyline's arrival sometime next year, around the same time as the Lancer and the STi.
P.S. What I mean by better car is performance wise, not looks wise.

diyath has the point where the cars are designed to run differently...personally, if I had the money and means (well, I suppose money is the mean), I'd get the Skyline GT-R Spec-N (or N-Spec, N for Nurenburg ). That thing is a damn beast. Failing that, I'd take an Evo VII GSR. As for strictly USDM cars, between the Skyline coupe that's coming and the Evo, the Evo wins with me hands down. I'll take AWD and the 4G63 any day.

If you still plan to wait for the R35 GT-R, it will also cost upwards of 60k.
Remember, it is to be challenging the next NSX and Supra (4300GT being the new name?) Each having V8. Okay, NSX also will have a v6 available as well. At 95k for the v6, imagine what the v8 will cost.

The Skyline is a little more than double the cost of an EVO. You should watch the Top Gear video on the R-34 Skyline, it is awsome. Lots of toys on that car( like the G-meter). If the R-35 is anything like that r-34 or better and you can afford to buy one when it gets here, I'd go for the Skyline.

man, if money were no object whatsoever, but I still had to choose, I would DEFINITELY go with the r35 when it comes out over here. That car is yummy. The reason I like the evo is because it combines insane performance with a really low price. The r35 is definitely the better streetcar though.
If you get to choose and money isnt a problem, go for the Skyline.
Man, the road presence of that car is amazing.
There are a few running around in Seattle and it was amazing to see a blue R34 on the street.
Skylines can also reach 1000hp and the Evo is hard pressed to hit 500hp. But that's only if you plan to do extreme mods...
Also, no one knows the spec, timing or pricing of the skyline.
So unless you work at Nissan on the R35 GTR, please dont spout speculation pricing for the car. People at Nissan probably dont even know at this point, considering that the car is still quite a while from production.
Oh yea, the interior is much nicer as well than the Evo/STi.

You gotta remember that the previous Skyline GTRs had engines that were OVER engineered, thus making them one of best cars ever to mod. That in my mind is why the car is so legendary. This may not be the case for the new GTR.
Skyline GT-R
I have found about many websites where Nissan specifically stated that there will be a Skyline GT-R released late 2003. The MSRP is promised to be under 30k for the GT-R. Here's a picture of what they said the car itself would look like...this picture is an actual photo, not one professionally made, and it's not a concept either!

How did you arrive at the understanding the R34 was little more then double the Evo 7? The difference between the two in Japan is only less then a million yen!
Also if you guys haven't heard Nissan has already announced it will axe the Silva and GTR lineup after all current stock has finished. I don't know if they will be releasing any overseas. Sure they have released a concept of the R35 at the 2001 Tokyo Motor show. But don't count on seeing a R35 at the moment. Mazda recently announced this August will be the last release of the RX7 line up, thus they are releasing a limited 1500 Sprint R versions. The reason is all these engines are getting old and do not meet the new emission test in Japan. Having said that I'm sure these makers will have something else up their sleeves.
