so i was having some idling issues with my 8 before...randomly jump up to 1500, almost 2k while in neutral, then back down to 1k, then drop almost 500 where the car would wanna bog out and die. well recently i put in an injen intake w/uicp and the idling problems have stopped since. i bought this car used and im pretty sure it already had an after market intake on then was returned to stock as some of the clips and bolts were missing while we were taking off my stock airbox. is there a way to find out if my car was already tuned or reflashed?

 

Check to see if there's a launch limiter. Not sure about 05s but if its an 03 or 04 and you have one, then its been flashed. When completely still, hold down clutch and gas until your rpms start bouncing. If it goes all the way up to redline, you still can't be 100% sure it wasn't tuned, but if it has a launch limiter before redline, it must have been tuned.

If you're missing bolts and clips from your stock intake, either it was wrecked or had an intake upgrade.

 

The easiest way is to just get with a local guy that has a laptop and tactrix cable. He can pull your maps.

 

yea i have a rev limiter...i tested that out when i first got my car about 3 months ago...and i believe it was 5500 or 6k? not sure on the exact number...but i do know for sure it has one. and as far as the missing bolts im thinking more of intake upgrade rather than wreck bc when i bought it it also had an aftermarket boost gauge installed and a blitz bov.

 

your car has been tuned. i agree with the guy above, u should take it to a local shop and have them look at it.

 

alright alright. by local shop are we talking a place like ams or is this something they can do at like autozone?
