stand alone ecu

i have a aem ecu that i have not installed. will i be able to make more power with the aem. what are the pros cons. thanks

pro: yes any tuner can make more power with an aem ems than with the stock ecu

con: won't pass emissions with it

even if you don't have an emissions test like some parts of ny, you won't even pass a basic safety inspection since you have to be plugged in throught the obdII port which will no longer read the ecu.

well i know from first hand that it wont pull timing automatically when the car knocks.............i rather keep it safe and sacrifice the power and keep my stock ECU until i go really big in power.
