About To Buy An Evo Mr!!

Hey guys... here we go.. I told him I can do the 28,500 for this EVo 9 MR in GG.

However a few things are sketching me out here...

He is the SECOND owner... He says he bought it from a dealer who said the first owner was an old man who traded it in for a new jeep.

There are mods done... INJEN Upper IC pipe, INJEN lower IC pipe, INJEN intake, INJEN catback... BIG concern here... Are there any big problems with these mods for the ecu etc??

It is in Texas so id pay for it to be ground shipped here to NJ...

heres the link guys... tell me what you thinkk!!! thanks!

I got mine for $27,900ish a few months ago with similar miles, so it's in the right ballpark.

Honestly....it depends on how it was tuned....a tune makes or breaks with any mod.

also, why not choose the 5 speed since its stronger?

really? I have read that the 5 spd is stronger.. I was looking into the SE in graphite gray... Are any of you guys selling? Because basically... I want this evo to take to the track and run 12s with just an intake, fuel pump, mbc, and tune. You really think the gsr-se's r more worth it? Thanks again

What "I" would do is simply pass....I would take a GSR...allot of people swapped their 6 speeds for a 5 speed...its stronger and geared better for drag racing.. if thats your interest.

Plus...I would not recommend an Evo that is moded beyond an exhaust without a tune...but that might just be me.

yea thanks for the replys... I really do feel more secure with a 5 spd. One big thing is if i get a gsr or se I want those dark bbs wheels on the MR. I wonder how hard those are to swap or buy...

you probably would want to go bigger and wider in the future...even if you get the MR...so why bother with the BBS...just go aftermarket and call it a day.

The BBS are nice...but the evo looks better with more rubber and wheel.

It all depends on how you drive the car.If you drive the crap out of your car parts are gonna get worn out.I myself have an MR and just hit 15,000 miles and have not had any problems.I don't track the car or anything but do get on it sometimes and the car runs like the day I bought it.Test drive the car first and also run a carfax to make sure there are no suprises.Good luck!

I would go SE. you will get the 5 speed and the BBs wheels along with the aluminum roof and HID's. That's what I'm doing. Can't wait until January!

The MR will be fine. I drive the hell out of mine and have had zero problems (in fact, I'm on my stock clutch). What I would say is make the offer contingent on having an inspection of the vehicle, and speak to KevinD (on this board) who does lots of Evo work in that area. See what he would charge you to give it a quick once over. He can also give you a great tune, but you might want to have someone in your area do it as the altitude and your gas might impact it.

#1 This is probably the biggest BS line any person is going to give you. Just look below \/\/\/\/

#2 If this guy was such an "old man" then why would the car be modded?

#3 Work the shipping into the deal its a dealer and they are going to make a boat load ANY WAY you look at it to ship it to you will not cost them over $5-700

Its a pretty good deal for the car but you really shouldn't buy it like other people have said until it gets a once over.

The 6spd vs. 5spd discussion is a joke I have the MR and I have had NO problems with it. People that have problems with them beat the crap out of their cars and probably lauch the crap out of it and wind up breaking stuff. Go with the MR trust me its alot more fun. Swapping to a 5spd is stupid and a waste of $$$. If you dont drive like a retard then the 6spd is fine. If you intend to motor X then the 6spd may not be for you that is the only time I would beware of it due to cooling problems. Besides that you will be prefectly fine. Gears 1-3 are exactly the same as the 5spd so you dont really haev anything to worry about unless your pushing suoper gigh hp that would damage 4-5-6 bc the gears are "thinner". Again nothing to worry about, IMO when someone hears you hit the extra gear they are usually like WTF? that thing is a 6spd. Have fun and GL.

I just re read it myself, this guy he's buying it from said the DEALERSHIP got it from a old man. :P
If you are 100% sure you want that car, I'd find one of us guys on the forums in the area to check it out before sending that much $$$
