Hks Intercooler Kit

Hey just wondering if anyone else has this kit on a evo ix? the kits really nice with the piping and all good horsepower gains but the only problem is the blow off valve kit!! i have pretty bad compressor surge at times and have even tried the recirculation kit. does any other company sell a top piece of the intercooler kit to the manifold so i can get rid of the hks bov?? o yah another thing do you guys think tuning would be necessary?

There are a lot better kits out there, for a lot less money.

If I had to do mine all over again, I would either do ETS, Neisi, or the usual Buschur or AMS stuff.

The HKS is really overpriced.

And as for the tuning, adding any part (engine part) tuning is recommended to extract maximum potential of the part, as a general rule. Some parts don't really justify it, but as a general rule, yeah, to see max gains, get a retune.

We tested HKS and results show that AMS is better - not to mention cheaper!
Same goes for intercooler piping.

I have the HKS kit with a few other tweaks... I have not had the car on the dyno so I dont' have results/numbers.... But with the reflash, the car is super fast. I would have to guess in the 400hp range at 19psi

Isnt the HKS something ridiculous like $1400 with piping?

If you paid that, I have a time machine I will sell you for $499.99. PM me for paypal.

That's what I paid but that was before there was any parts for the EVO IX, I think I was one of the first to modify a Evo IX , making 500+awhp.

400hp? Is this a guess? I wouldn't be claiming butt dyno numbers if it is.

Bench racing at it's finest. You arent making close to 400 on 19psi.

lol thanks for all the replies. i've already purchased the kit... the only reason is because i wanted all hks parts.... but to be truthfull hks isnt the greatest with fitment or customer service! the price for everything was more than $1400 even at my cost owning a business selling parts and all. when you get the kit u have to buy the stupid type 2 bov kit haha blows ***. but nextime ill go ams.. turbo, manifold etc. so does ams just sell the manifold intercooler piping so i can get rid of the blow off valve?

Should of gone AMS or BR more bang for the buck HKS is just a name which doesn't give you extra hp just because it says hks
