IX front bumper install

sorry to ask a simple question guys, but I was going to buy a IX bumper to put on my VIII and need to know if I need anything other than the bumper skin itself.

Its been a long time since I removed the VIII bumper, as I recall there isn't anything special in the way of brackets to make the install. Is there with the IX?

thanks

yeah I would think the bumper on either car would not be an issue, but I wonder are there a lot of brackets and mounting bits that I don't have?
buying a new skin so it won't have anything along with it

should be the same. but hey just go with the APR GT. looks just like stock but with a lip. that will fit cause you need to drill the holes yourself anyways.

You have to drill the holes yourself for the APR front bumper/lip? Do you have to buy the fasteners separately for this part then?

you have to buy the rivets and such but you use the same mounting bar as the stock one. you just drill the holes to match the holes perfectly. really easy. the hardest part is painting it actually

I see, thank you. So what are you drilling into? The metal bumper? Sorry for the newbish questions, I haven't had the chance to get under that part of the car to see how it is set up.

i don't think it's a direct swap. the IX bumper requires a IX beam, and radiator support. if you check here on gruppe-s website
http://gruppe-s.com/Evo/evoext.htm
and click on the Evo IX bumper, it'll say USDM or JDM Evo IX bumper requires a Evo IX beam and radiator support.

There are alot of parts needed to have a fully complete IX bumper aside from the skin. Very few parts from the VIII can be transfer to the IX aside from the screws and bolts. Once you get all the right brackets and such, there is no drilling or retapping to mount it. It mounts to the same holes as the VIII.

It is a direct swap. Not sure about the front crash beam cause I don't run one. You need alot more than just the bumper skin. A few hundred dollars in mesh, bolts, suports, ect...... then paint match. Try and find one used cause it's a huge pain to by everything piece by piece (I know cause that's what I did). Do a search there's like 10 threads about the swap.

I have a 9 and I installed an 8 bumper. It is a direct swap. Like stated above, all of the trim peices and cowling is not the same as the 8, but the skin itself swaps on with no trouble.
