Talking

AYC AND ACD or not I am getting of those babies.
What are guys talking about? Experience has nothing to due with what car you get ( how much
money you have is what counts)! The Driver just needs to know what his limits are or are not.
I have been in my yearly 20 before, and I too felt I was the best driver there ever was.
Now, I can say I am an experienced driver. I am still alive!!!!!
Seriously now.
I think this car is going to be great. I would not worry about what the car has. would not
jeopardized the image of the car, as a matter of fact, is bringing this car here to increase
its image in the performance car market.

The EVO won't be my first car, and I have driven ALOT of other cars too. maybe not ferrari's (driven in them), but ive driven WRX's, and 3000 gt VR-4's very hard. among others. I know what you are talking about though when you say that, but I mostly agree with Fred.

yeah, i'm with fred, i guess afterall, AYC, or all those other gadgets or not, i'm still gonna stick with the Evo even if it comes with its bare essence, as long as its the Evo we're come to fall in love with. sidenote: heh man its true when they say guys could say that they "love" their cars every day but cant say that to their better-half...

and silverEVO, i just wanted to say that i never meant to imply that you're inexperienced, i was just trying to inoffensively explain to some other forum users that not all of us drive "at their level", not on a track, but would still like an extremely potent street car, sorry if it seemed like i wuz flamin you with the rest of the gang here

I myself am only 16. I have only had my license for 6 months and 2 weeks although i drive everyday to school and such. (school is actually quite far..50 min drive) I will not say that i think i am a good driver nor a experienced one... but if you guys think that i am not ready for a car like this...i think it's completely bull. I have been driving a 00 nissan maxima v6 222hp. I myself think that i am ready and see no reason why i wouldn't be able to drive the evo 7. I am quite responsible and mature and i am 100% sure i will be able to handle it. (Yes i know it's a turbo) So who else is to say that I am not ready for this type of car?

Now this day should go down in the Lancer Forum history books. I never thought I would see the day EvoSouL would get after others about flaming. Cool. Cheers dude.

I'm 19 and have been driving for about 5 years now. Well first of all this will be my first standard to own and drive and honestly it scares me some but I have been following EVO's for about 2 years and I love them. Do ya'll think it will be really hard to adjust to a car of the calibur.

come on, i never think "adjustment" or being "ready" for a car is that important. fundamentally cars differ in throttle sensitivity and response. and most importantly, if you like flooring the pedal (well at inappropriate times i might add), then any car is dangerous, ofcourse a strong car being more so, but its really the same thing, you'll get into trouble no matter what.
i think the whole "thats too much car for you" deal is really bull, i mean some advice is useful, but just like bluesloth said, why should you let someone who has no idea what kinda person/driver you car tell you what car to get (leave it to your wallet to tell you what car you can afford) i'm 20, can barely park, failed 3 road tests, street races, but has never done as much as putting a dent on any of the cars i've driven in five years. i've been in a car accident with a forty year old driving an audi coz he swerved rite into my lane outta no apparent reason. and hey, this forty year old guy probably has tons more driving experience than me, but thinking he can drive so well with all that "experience" got him into all that trouble, and trashed my front end.
end of the day, take advice from the elder, but you know urself the best, be open but also be confident.

Amen...seriously we all just know ourselves if we can handle the cars or not and pushing the car to its limits to get into trouble which in my opinion is the biggest problem is completely up to us. We're in control.. as im sure most of the people posting on this forum will be able to control the car but the hard part will be controlling our own urge for fun, the rush, and speed.

I am 32 years old and am a menace to the general public. I recently got pulled over for 'exhibition of speed' on my 929 after doing a 1/4 mile wheelie. This is a misdemeanor.

I have never been in an accident (knock on wood) and I grew up in upstate NY where there was ice on the road 6 months out of the year. I attribute this to a lot of luck and common sense when it mattered the most.

In Aviation, everything is done to reduce the chance of accidents. Student pilots are taught the ins and outs of the aircraft they are flying. They learn about aerodynamics, weather, safety, checklists, mechanics of the plane, etc...Then they are tested on their knowledge of this. Because of this the FAA will grant a 16 year old a Private license. That 16 year old will be a safe pilot.

The automobile world is different.
How many know a 16 year old girl driver that is more concerned about how the car makes her look and how big the mirror is for her makeup etc? She presses the gas pedal and knows the car goes forward...she hits the brakes and it slows down. What happens underneath her is a mystery. This is fine until something out of the ordinary happens. A tire blows, the brakes fail, the roads are icy...

I have competed in moto cross, road racing and now shifter karts. I have seen 12-16 year old kids turn some fast lap times on various high performance equipment. These kids were no more dangerous than any one else on the track. Why? They are focused on what they were doing and respectful of the dangers. Unfortunately, this is not always the case for a teenage automobile driver.

If you are on this forum you probably think you know a little about high performance driving. You study the EVO and you appreciate what it is about. You want to learn how to push its limits. Hopefully if you can afford the cost of a $30,000 car you will be respectful of it.

I think if some one takes the time to join this forum, they probably are on they way to becoming a good driver.

more than there needs to be, got a good story:

...just last night coming home from work I pull past this brand new 00 civic, license plate frame that says "daddy's girl" has the "cool clear altezzas" a 16 year old girl, maybe 17 in front on her cell phone, talking to God knows who, she looks over laughing and talking on her cell, looks at me, I give her that "you wish" smile ...she revs her engine (then i laughed my *** off)...I was thinking "dear God! get off your damn phone and drive!" ...I glare at her then just looked ahead at the light she peels off the line, I catch up but ending up just slowing down at about 40mph, she speeds up more, catches about 55-60 in a 35 ..I just thought o myself "what in the hell, are you kidding me?" two lights ahead it's yellow...then..then (count 3 seconds at least in your head after the light was red) a van pulls out and she zooms through the red light, the van slams it's breaks on and it pulls sideways on the corner she catches the corner and keeps driving...i just thought to myself "are you serious?" she pulled over ahead like 2 blocks so I pulled over and it was a family of 5 with two kids that had to be 2-4 years old. If it wasn't a chic that did that I would have buried my foot in someones teeth.

i dun think we should be bit*hin bout girl drivers, they're not ALL bad, actually most of them are more that competent, hey lisa kubo could whip my behind any day, but then there were scientific studies that show that females arent as good at detemining space and depth as males are, but thats besides the pt.
my pt is its all about selfrespect, respect for others and knowing how far you CAN go. the most dangerous drivers are not those running 90 on an empty freeway, but unattentive, on cell phone drivers running 20 in a school zone, coz if you kill urself or trash ur car thats ur problem, but some people just have no idea that they're actually SHARING the road with others....

I have two girl driver stories.

First one.
Drivers education class, teacher tells female student to adjust rear veiw mirror before taking off. Girl promptly adjusts mirror so that she can see her full face. (like its a makeup mirror or something!)

Second one.
I was with my girlfriend in Atlanta, GA. I came up to a stop sign that said 'STOP ALL WAY' indicating the intersection had stop signs in all directions. I rolled through the stop at like 2 mph and she freaked out! I said what the hell is the problem? She said, 'cant you read the sign...It says stop all the way!'
