If a UICP blows...

So I just put on my nisei UICP and LICP yesterday, but overlooked a clamp on a tube going from the UICP to BOV. Being very close to work, I just continued driving for about a mile or two. By the time I parked the car, the car was sputtering and struggling with unmetered air. The I clamped it back on and the engine sound like it was running fine.

My question is- What harm would come to my engine by having this happen? It is serious?

No, your fine. I'm sure if you ran the car that way for a few days it wouldn't be good for it. But people have they're uicp and licp blow off all the time and have to drive somewhere to fix it. Your fine and there will be no problems due to that

Mine had blown off a total of about 4 times. Once on the freeway, 3 times on track, all at high speed/high rpm, in 4th or 5th gear. Never caused any problems for me.

the first thing you should buy is some T-Bolt clamps.....

I had my upper intercooler pipe fly off at 120mph...... scared the living poop out of me....

T-bolt clamps and your pipes should never come undone again.

even T-bolt clamps need to be adjusted some times. They much better ,but still. It is a good idea at least every 6 months, just check them out. Not a big deal.

When you guys blow any intercooler hose off and if the car starts to sputter or dies you should always change the plugs...

As long as it started right back up.

This happened to me in my Mirage, except I drove a 1/2 trying to get it back to my house. All I did was soak the spark plugs. Pulled them, cleaned them, poepped them back in and It's been fine. If it only ran like that for a short period of time and started right back up, you'll be fine.

+1,000,000 on the T-bolt clamps...I'll never use the worm clamps again on any boosted application.

here's another good site for clamps http://www.partssystems.com/shop/pro...egory_id=TBOLT

I can only sympathize with you when I say that it happened to me yesterday for the first time. I put on my Injen UICP/intake set and had one of my buddies rev the engine so that I can see if I could "hear" if something was leaking (as if I'm a scientist or something). He's not an Import fellah and just when he was getting his rocks off from listening to the intake, he said, "It sounds pretty good". Then... BAM! The hose on the throttle body blows off and I was like . "Turn it off! Turn it off! Before I read this thread, my paranoia was getting the best of me not knowing if I was even safe to drive my car until I got some clarification. I'm glad that I now have it!

I just recieved my kit from siliconeintakes. It is a great price for so many clamps and they look very decent quality.
