the first thing it says in your owners manuel is, "DO NOT TOW ANYTHING WITH THIS VEHICLE".

This is nothing new. Lots of vehicles have a similar warning. They say this because the vehicle isn't designed for "real" towing applications (i.e. thousands of pounds). Putting a small trailer or tire tail and towing 250Lbs of tires is NOT a big deal. If it can be done on a Miata, it can be done on an Evo.

I dont need a heavy duty one because all i will caring on it is a bike rack holding 2 mountain bikes. I beleive the tongue weight on it won't exceed 100lbs. Any help would be very appreciated. All i found were bolt on kits made for the regular lancers but none for the evo, or should i go to uhaul and weld a sucker on. Thx a lot guys and girls

There is an individual on here that sells them, do a seach for "hitch or trailer" you will see his name come up.

Also slow boy racing makes a very similar one, I cant find it on their site, buy you may want to give them a call too.

and BTW I have to agree with you, there is nothing wrong with pulling something small and light. Its the same IMHO as having a car load of people.

Wow. Lots of bad advices in this thread.

Search the forum and you will find a link to the videos of Top Gear guys doing 140 or 120 mph in an Evo 8 I believe while pulling a camping trailer.

Yes Evo can tow, and there are quite a few guys on here who pull small trailers to Track days.

I have my hitch installed on my Evo8. It was made by one of the members on the forum, and its top quality. No drilling nor cutting needed. Its held by 4 rear crash beam bolts, plus you attach a U bolt to the rear tow hook in the middle of the hitch.

If you follow the manual and what Mitsu says is bad for the car, how come you are modifying your car ??? Didn't you read in the manual its bad for your car ?? LOLOLOL

Put the hitch ON .

scince when do you listen to that damn book???
it also says in the towing section you can tow a vehicle with your evo if it is lesser
in weight. what sense does that make.
call slowboy racing they sold a hitch and it used to be on their website but i can't
find it anymore. i have it on my evo and pull a 200 lb trailer with a 400lb bike on it to trackdays. and it works fine. evo has brakes just as big as my 05 tacoma.
gets better gas mileage with the triler than my tacoma ever did.
check it out you won't be disappointed. sorry i couldn't find the link.
Can you please post some pics of your setup please?
BTW, I called them last week about it and the guy on the phone made it seem like I was speaking Chinese.
