Evo 6,8,9 engine in evo 1

Evo 6,8,9 engine in evo 1

Yes,i did a search.I wanted to know if a evo 6,8,9, engine would fit into a evo 1?Could it drop in or are we talking major swap here?

The evo4+ engines were rotated 180 degrees compared to the evo1-3 engines so while yes it is possible to drop later engines in you will most likely have to make new mounts.

You'd be better off mounting the entire subframe assy from the later car to your early evo. The engine will be cradled correctly and you'd only have to worry about 4 or so mounting points for the new subframe. In the rear you could do the same. It would be expensive but it would be the easiest route to do this kind of project. The car would be about 1 inch wider, it would have aluminum suspension parts, updated hubs and a better drivetrain (with worse gear ratios)

i wouldn't say it is worth the trouble.. the 4g63t in the evo1 or in dsm's have been proven
