My Exhaust Setup

Hi I have a few questions about my exhaust setup:
Right now I have a borla catback exhaust and am debating which downpipe+cat/testpipe+o2 housing to get.
I know a test pipe gives about 10hp more and would like to go with this but are the fumes/sound really THAT bad as they say? If they are, how bad is a hi flow cat gain wise?
Basically I just want to go with the best o2 housing/downpipe/test pipe to go along with my borla catback which wont be too loud but also put out a lot of gains.
Thanks!!!

Well seeing as you are from LA ( I'm there too) it might not be a good idea to run a testpipe.......... unless you can make it look like a stock catalytic. You can make it yourself by purchasing a testpipe and using your shields off your stock cat and using those. If not you can contact roadraceengineering.com and they have one made for you already. By the way your car will get impounded immediately if your found without a catalytic.

The fumes aren't that bad. But then again your in LA where the traffic is horrible so you might notice it a bit more.

Go big or go home. **** it get a testpipe and stop being a *****.

Damn you didn't take it easy on the vag comments. Any 3" downpipe works the same. 02 housing get a megan. On a borla exhaust it isn't going to be that loud so a testpipe will be fine. I do suggest the same as the guy above me mentioned on getting a testpipe that looks like a cat.

Hmm I stumbled across a RSR Downpipe which "deletes the cat" exactly what does that mean? Does this mean I do not need a test pipe/cat? Also he suggested I get a the invidia o2 housing because it is huge. So if I go with this, would the sound be REALLY loud?

Since your in California, why not just get the RRE exhaust? I heard their exhaust system is as quiet as it gets with 3" exhaust and very stock looking.

I have a resonated test pipe with my Tanabe exhaust. The sound has changed, it doesnt drone but the rumble slightly increased. But at the same time I do have an exhaust leak because I reused the stock gaskets and I guess are not good anymore. New gaskets should come in soon for me to replace them with.

There are many exhaust systems with Cats. that are 50 states legal and work very well, you'll have no issues with emmissions etc. And pop on the "test pipe" when its needed.
