I'm sure you are enjoying the car. But I can tell you for a fact that the stock tune isn't that great. Most 9s that I see knock like a hell. A simple tune can really clean up the performance of the car. Nothing wrong with dialing in the car in stock form.

One thing is for sure... uncorking the exhaust is worth every penny of the $250 ebay TBE! I know the car feels great right out of the box but once you get rid of that bottleneck it becomes a true powerhouse. I understand your take on it but a tune and exhaust will reward you with nearly 100hp. That is fantastic bang for buck.

Takes a digger .... mean something broke, crashed, or didn't work quite right.

Good point about the stock IX's knocking, I've read about a few instances of that. I am actually thinking of getting a Tractix cable and logging some runs to see how many counts of knock I get. Can't hurt to find out how the stock tune is doing.

Nice link btw, now I'll never forget what that means.

I have a full TBE and I can assure you that with the right setup, it's only loud when you want it to be

It'll be 4 years of ownership in February. 71k miles.

Only have coilovers and wheels.

Still on the stock clutch, and even the stock plugs. Pulls like new.

I'm still "considered" stock or atleast i'd like to think that way. I have a k&n drop in filter, catback and AMS reflash. I have nothing under the hood completely bone stock and untouched. My dealer has done all my warranty work without any issues. I have a 05 EB so I also tried to make it look more cosmetically appealing. I have a DoLuck CF front lip, color matched VG and i'm also running SE BBS wheels for summer. Dealer loves my car every time I come in. They always tell me that my appearnace mods are well matched.

I am wondering however with all of you who are stock with coilovers. I have really considered these over the past few months but I don't know if I should go that route. I really don't want to ask my dealership because I think I may be pushing the limits. Have any of you had any issues and had either tranny warranty work done?

My car already needs an alignment at 2500 miles
so if they deny me first try i need something to say to get them to do it.

Like I mentioned in my original post, my car had a few hundred miles when I knew that the alignment was off. I'm not sure if it's in the warranty fine print, but the guy at the Mitsubishi dealership said that as long as it had less than 1k miles, it was eligible to be realigned under warranty. But of course, they tried to attribute it to something else (tire pressure, possibly hitting a pothole, whatever) before even seeing my car. One of the service guys drove the car and said it felt fine, but I was pretty adamant about it being off, so after another service guy with a higher position drove it and talked to me, he said he did notice it was a little off, so they put it on the alignment rack and took care of it. Sure enough, when they printed out the specs (which I regret not keeping), the toe was off, despite the first guy originally telling me that the alignment from the factory is perfect through laser precision that couldn't be duplicated outside of the factory... mmmmmhmmmmm...

i don't race but i love fast and sport cars. if i was racing or tracking the car, i would mod it. i, however have made this vehicle my everyday straight-up do anything driver so i really cannot trade the reliability for a little more speed. this car (and any other high performance car) is bulletproof for regular un-modded use. a turbo motor is built strong to withstand the pressures that forced induction create, so for regular street use, with good maintenance, this car will easily last for a loooooong time. plus, living in california, i don't have any extra cash for mods. i'm broke!

a tune is a hidden mod ;-)

around 25whp, super cheap, and better gas mileage.... it pays for itself

Cheers!

I'm all stock except for a K&N drop in and extreme white bulbs in the high beams and foglights to match the HID's. Once I get some more miles on the car (only have about 950 on it) I might do some basic stage one mods (MBC, maybe TBE and a tune) and leave it alone after that. Its a great car right off the showroom floor but it would be nice to optimize the tune and improve gas mileage a bit.

Agreed. Whether you're bone stock or fully built, you should have a custom tune
