Bone Stock Evo Roll Call
I am stock for the moment, waiting till I get back from Iraq, then will keep it stock for another couple thousand miles to make sure everything is broken in correctly and I dont need any service, then maybe a TBE and Tune to start. followed by some suspension.
The temptation to start modding is hard to resist, especially with the all the knowledge on this forum, the huge aftermarket, and the resulting ability to extract a lot of power from the 4G63.
Despite this, my reasons to stay stock are straightforward:
(1) Warranty work, don't want the hassle as we all know how Mitsu dealers can be, even with the MM Act.
(2) Exhaust tone, I've heard a TBE and it's fairly loud and I don't like the attention.
(3) I already have to spend more money on maintenance items than most cars (engine oil, tranny oil, tc fluid, rear diff, etc).
(4) Approval of the CEO a.k.a. "the wife" when it comes to spending more money on a depreciating asset.
(5) In stock form the car has enough power and handling with a good set of tires and proper alignment.
A quick search shows that the last thread on this subject was started about two years ago. I'd like to get a current idea of how many Evo owners on this forum are currently running bone stock and plan to keep it that way.

I have two reversable mods for increased power that I can share with you if you want to send us a PM.
I plan to keep mine bone stock - 2006 Evo IX SE. I have some winter wheels with snow tires on it right now, but I don't think that counts.
I can't say I've ever experienced any engine knock on my car.

Im right there with ya sleeper, im stock.
Im in no rush to mod the car, the way i look at it is this cars easy to make fast and can be done for a small hand full of money. IMO the best bet would be to just learn about what mods/tuning are needed to reach the goals your trying to achieve, Learn from others mistakes etc. Start saving money and by time your have a great understanding of the car and what its capable of, you will be more then ready to mod and will have the extra cash to do so.
Either way its all up to you to deside how to go about it.
And like this statement "reversable mods" people wonder why most mitsubishi dealers are the way they are. I've allways approached modifining cars under warranty with the understanding that if it breaks im paying for it.
It all goes back to "You gotta pay, If you wanna play"
Thats my 2 cents

My definition is this: "bone stock" means your car is identical to what is was delivered from the factory. When you just use the word "stock" is loosely defined, some may interpret that differently, like say just a drop in filter, or a flashed ecu like yours.
