Wow... so I'm not the only one. Noticed this yesterday as well. Mine is cracked along the mounting bolt holes on the right side near the sensor. It's even warping upwards!

I just noticed that mine cracked today also, at the bottom right corner. I think its the rapid changed in temp. It was -4 degrees last week and its already in the mid 40s already today. I guess its time for that arc i've been longing for, atleast I got a reason to get it. Too bad they r sold out at the lancershop.

did an oil change yesterday and noticed mine is cracked too
never touched it either

its cracked completely in half on the side near the battery. maybe it has something to do with the cold weather? is this happening to just people where its cold at?

This should be covered by Mitsubishi. Call the dealer and have them order a new one. I do not think it would be temperature related I drove to canada this winter and mine survived. It may be a Torque issue with the screws I would not tighten them very much. thanks for the heads up!!

my did the same, it was definately a thermal crack, can't explain the warm weather issues but thats what it was in my case, it doesn't have to be from cold to hot..it can go from hot to cold too...say if you are running your car then get a car wash...vented hood...not so good

well you gotta think how hot it gets under your hood. so what if its 70 degrees outside. i guarantee that the valve cover is at least double that temp. extreme heating and cooling of plastic is not good and the plastic can only take so much. im sure being in a warm climate it will take longer to crack, but this seems to be a very common problem

probably overtorqued, crappy plastic (call mits.), or a large difference in temp if you're in a cold area. PM me if anyone wants an evo 8 spark plug cover. I need to get rid of it. Sorry to jack the thread.
