Surface on Hood & Roof are no longer as smooth as before

I'm pretty religious when it comes to maintaining the exterior of my ride, I wash my car every weekend & wax every 2 - 3 month intervals. Recently, I've noticed the hood & roof are no longer as smooth as the rest of the car. My questions are:

1) Why just the hood & roof? Just a wild guess, is it because these are made of aluminium?

2) Will claying help improve the texture?

Please advise, thanks!

flat surface, stuff lays on horizontal surfaces. Yes clay bar ir good. It will feel like new again. You should clay always before waxing.

def try claying, makes a world of difference. A new product that a detailing friend of mine just introduced me to was a grunge sponge, lol.. I know it sounds kinda stupid but it has a clay-like surface on the one side that works a lot better then your standard clay bar.

Just because it's aluminum doesn't make the roof smoother or rougher, since the paint around the car should technically be the same. Try using a clay bar and see if it improves anything. Plus, if you're thinking about it aerodynamically, a lot of dirt travels from the hood, to the roof and to the rear of the car when you're moving.

Its a 9? Should be fine, The roof is a high friction plane and the air could be causing the wax/debris/dirt to fold over itself causing little bumps not visible but "feelable". If this is the case then Claying should take care of it. Be sure to knead the clay well though, you dont want to pick up debris then scratch it all over the rest of the car.

My hood gets nasty too, the roof not so bad. I clay/wax every 2 weeks though.
