relocation ?s

so you guys have probably seen if you look at evo general frequently...that i just relocated a yellow top to my trunk...i have 2 questions....

1. do i need some sort of relay/fuse on the 2 gauge wire that runs from my positive terminal to teh positive bundle in my engine bay....i hear that i did...but i dont see why because i still have the sotck positive battery bundle

2. i dont have my red cap that came on the positive bundle anymore...no idea where it went...is there a way i can protect the positive bundle from the elements and from hitting metal and sparking and shorting...can i just tape it up

Thanks

You certainly need a fuse between the battery and the engine bay.. now between the engine bay and the harness.. you could always add another one, but the key is the one from the battery to the wires

As for the red cap, go to any autoparts store and you can buy a variety of caps.

i didn't add another fuse. if the one in there is good enough from the factory its good enough for me. And i electrical taped the crap out of the bundle. Not to the point where its bulging and obnoxious, but its not going to short out on anything. I'd check your local car stereo place for the cable you are looking for.

I use a small battery myself, but I know alot about batteries in general. I am assuming the yellowtop is a SLAB (sealed lead acid), and therefor should have some means of venting, typically just having it in the trunk is okay for normal driving. I would seriously enclose the entire battery. Those red clips fall off. I would get some cheap sheet aluminum (few dollars) and bend a box housing for it, then coat the inside with a rubber coating and mabye carpet the outside. Get the OEM carpet mat thing that sits over the spare-tire well and use that to carpet it.

As for the fuse, just go to a car audio place such as Best Buy or along those lines and get a 2 ga. Inline Fuse for a amplifier. Tape the crap out of the bundle and it will be fine.
