2004 Lancer Sportback ls (2.4) 4speed auto

I got a question to ask here before trying a dealership. (Big Money) I was driving through flooded streets and got a short at my positive battery wire bundle. Which has been fixed. but another problem that now has showed up is my tranny is now in limp mode (quote from my fave mechanic) meaning it will not shift out of second gear. Goes into Park and reverse but when driving stays in second gear. Was told it is not mechanical because service engine light is on and my tech says in is one possibly two modulus. he said if it is a certain one that ill fix your problem but if it is the other I will need to replace both. If anybody here can help me it would be greatly appreciated. if you need to ask anymore questions please do as most of my money goes to house and family and doggie (Bailly) Please helpme keep my furry soulmate in good food. Thanks ahead of time for all the help I can get ladies and gent's. Yours truly, Mark Cope

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for like 15 minutes to reset the ECU? What trouble codes are you getting with the check engine light?

I can provided you with any documentation you require. If you pull the codes, it will tell you almost exactly what the problem is, and then you narrow it down, this involves wire/sensor checks. A lot of sensors are analog, and can be tested with an ohmmeter (any cheapo multimeter). Keep in mind, there is more than one sensor.

Also, I find it very surprising that so many people who own vehicles don't know about Bluetooth OBD2 adapters, and smartphone apps with which to interface...$30 tops and you have everything you need for basic diagnostics. spread the word.
