Model Year Options Questions...

I am in the process of looking for an Evo 9, getting rid of my Jeep SRT8. I have seen many with a "two tone rear diffuser rear bumper." Is this an option on any USDM Evo or is that an aftermarket bumper people are putting on, if so what model is it available on? Also Which Evos have the 6spd tranny, and can you get both options along with an SSL package? Thanks for the help.

i think you're talking about the JDM rear bumper. many vendors on here sell them for around $400-500 if i'm not mistaken. only the MR editions have the 6 speed tranny. the Evo 9 MR's all come with leather/suede seats. the Evo 9 MR SE comes with the appearance package that adds diamond black bbs rims (i believe that's what they're called), the winglet on the wing, the red stitching on the seats, and the front lip. i dont think the MR's have a SSL package. you get the basic sound system, no sunroof due to the aluminum roof, and the leather comes standard.

its the JDM rear bumper............USDM doesent come with it....

with the JDM you need a JDM crash beam or just take it off like i did..........or you can refab it.

looks clean though

So I cannot get a 6 spd with the SSL? I know the MR has leather/suede but I really prefer the all leather interior.

I believe you are referring to the JDM rear bumper which is pretty popular. There is an APR rear bumper with the rear diffuser that basically just goes over your existing one. Very aggressive looking combo IMO.

MR:
- 6 Speed only
- Aluminium roof
- BBS wheels (grey colour for regular MR)
- Tri Gauge pack?

SE:
- 5 Speed
- BBS wheels (silver colour)
- Aluminium roof

Base (GSR):
- Enkei wheels (VIII: 5 spoke, IX: Bi-5 spoke)

SSL (Sun, sound, leather):
- Leather recaros
- Sunroof
- Upgraded sound system 300 watts (?)

RS (Lightweight version):
- No sound deadening
- No power windows or locks
- No ABS
- Other stuff. About 60 lbs lighter I believe. Someone correct me on this.

Basically the MR is the only model with a 6 speed. Most people believe the 5 speed is actually a tougher transmission, but the extra gear would be nice for highway cruising. SSL package is with a base model only. I don't believe they made a SSL MR.

This answers all my questions thank you. I guess I will just have to re-trim the interior of an MR or buy after market seats. Thanks for the info.

oh yeah i forgot to mention the MR sport gauges (volt, oil temp, boost). burklow pretty much summed it all up. the MR SE also has the silver bbs wheels.
