RedV, kudos on keeping your cool. I had a friend that had a similar run in with a guy. He followed my friend to his place of work and beat him up in front of the people that work there using a steering lock. My friend had gotten over a lane when this guy was flying up on the right and didn't see him. None of the people at his work lifted a finger to help defend him. My friend is a pacifist and opted not to press charges because he didn't want the person to learn his address. In this case too the guy had his kids in the car and they looked on as their daddy beat up someone. Real trash. The fact that your nut-job returned with a weapon should weigh heavily during sentencing.

Pretty crazy this guy would want to fight you and get out of his car and do this cause you were driving slow, seems very odd to me.

hope ya get your car fixed soon.

that's a crazy story....i'm not sure what i would have done. My brother had a similar story when he had his old truck...he was simply driving down the road and a guy flew up next to him and kept pointing to pull over. My bro thought something was wrong with his truck (low tire pressure, etc) so he pulls over and then the guy gets out of his car screaming that my brother was an inconsiderate driver and wanted to "settle it". My brother settled it with one punch and drove away, but it just made me realize how nuts people can be for no apparent reason!

You know what the truely ****ed up part is?

RedV is in Michigan. Chances are, his insurance will claim No Fault.

in indiana (thank god we can carry in this state) he most likely would have been shot, him coming at you would most likely have been self defense because you were in fear for your life, and reasonably so

the guy sounds like he has a few screws loose, even if you accidentally cut him off or something he crossed the line. he most likely will be in some serious trouble, if they really wanted to push it, it could be considered a hate crime

Wow what a story. It is definitely good that the child is not in custody of someone with anger problems like that. When people tailgate me like that though i usually just let them pass.

Thats a crazy story... I personally would have tried to fight him. Usually I am used to people getting mad at me on the road I dont pay any attention, but if some fool came out and hit my car... ITS ON LIKE DONKEY KONG!!!

Glad to hear he's in jail!! I would agree that it doesnt "sound" like an unprovoked attack, except I've had something very similar happen to me in a parking lot recently, and I had just given the guy kind of a weird look because he almost hit my car going around a corner in a Olive Garden parking lot, he peels out in reverse, blocks my car a little and gets out and starts to move towards my car. I'm 37, have my 5yr old and 3yr old in the back of my car, plus I'm not going to get in a fist fight with anyone at this point of my life, so I lean out the window a little and say "hey man, I dont want no trouble, no trouble, I'm sorry, I just want to go my own way, I dont want any trouble". He seemed dissapointed that I wasn't ready to jump out and fight but evidently my passive response had disarmed his psychosis a little and he turned and got back in his car. He sort of looked like a junkie all jacked up on his emotions, and then he drove out of the lot. I was thinking I need to get my license to carry - that was scary.

When he almost hit my car I didnt take my hands off the steering wheel and I didnt "say" anything either.. There are people among us that are not rational.

Thats sucks and I wouldnt feel bad sending him to jail over it. Less people on the road like that the better! I get people that tailgate me all the time, just because I'm in a car that looks and goes fast doesnt mean I am going to do it. Patiences is a virtue buddy he needs to learn how to chill out. GL fixing the car.
