MR Owners Springs help

So currently my car is outside on jackstands with the wheels off and 1 shock off with the spring on it compressed...

(I already finished the front springs, I'm talking about the rears)

Has anybody installed springs on the MR shocks themselves? There is the 1 bolt on top that you have to take off to remove the spring and IT WILL NOT COME OFF. It just squeaks when I rotate it because theres a big rubber bushing-like thing below it...Can somebody please help me quick because Id really not like to put the car down and everything without finishing the job...

Thanks in advance

i just installed my springs a couple days ago. you have to use a wrench for the nut and you need another tool to hold the bolt in place. it's kinda hard for me to explain. on the very top of the shock you'll see the nut and the bolt that it's screwed into. theres a flattened spot on the tip of the bolt and you need to use a tool to hold it in place so you can unscrew the nut. if you dont hold the bolt in place then they're just gonna spin with each other and not loosen. i used one of those adjustable open ended wrenches where you spin the spindle thing and it adjusts the size. lemme know if you need me to explain this a little better.

Hold Down the flat piece at the top with an adjustable wrench (ensures that the nuts can loosen out without just turning and turning) ... and take the nut off!

Here is the flat piece I am talking about..

Then the nut is self-explanatory.

Hope this helps...

You can losen that nut when the entire strut assembly is still attached to your car. Break it lose before you take it out of the car with just a few turns, then when you have your spring compressed like that, you can take it off pretty easily.

^ The manual and most documentation always says never to use an impact wrench when removing that nut. I know a lot of people do, but I believe there is a possibility of damaging your strut.
