Definately agree! Not worth buying a new turbo over 20 extra minutes of work.

Shavings + turbo... Anybody using that squishy thing sitting up top? Obviously not. Do it right, take the manifold off and tap it then. Make sure you get all the shavings out before you reinstall.

There's no boost at idle, and hardly any at less than 3000 RPM's, especially when there's no load on the motor. This is because the turbo isn't spinning, so you don't have to worry about the shavings. I've done this on a few DSM's as early back as 1999 and two Evo's now. None of them ever had any kind of turbo failure from this.
