New Car
You're in the Evo forum.....of course everyone would say go for Evo. I would say that an Evo is a good choice if you want to haul people at the same time you want speed. But do some research and comparison. Evo would be good to compare with STi, R32 and Audi S4. I personally think that once you start to tweek on German cars, you're in trouble because I use to have one myself. Well, it was a bad one to start with but you never know. Besides there are plenty of bolt-on parts for the Evo and STi out there for you to grab as long as you got the bang for it. Good luck
Thanks for all of the tips! I really appreciate it. I just got off the phone with a few dealerships and they are going to keep an eye out for me and call me at the first sign of having anything half way decent. IE low milage evo 6/7/8/9. Unfortunately it doesn't look like theres much out here. But I am sure if I wait, I will find one out near chicago.
Whats quicker, and I realize this is an evo forum so there might be some biases here, but what would be quicker in general, and evo or an sti?
Thanks.
From what I have seen, the evo is faster then the sti on the track, however they "favor" the sti more. But that was just topgear lol.

Evo handles better and will outrun an STI stock to stock. The STI's interior is a little nicer, but the seats are not supportive and they only come in "smurf" blue. I love the Recaros in my IX. I've heard of stock IX's doing high 12's in the quarter so geting one into the 11's shouldn't be a problem at all. If you can afford a IX get one and preferably the SE since I feel its the best compromise of the Evo trim lines. But even if you buy an VIII it doesn't matter, they are amazing to drive and puts a smile on my face everytime I get in mine.
Can you guys do me a favor and look at this site and tell me what you think please.

Of all the cars left in their inventory I would only look at the WW IX MR. It appears to be all stock whereas the two VIII are both modded and have probably been beaten on. I would do a carfax on it and have it checked out by yourself or a professional that knows Evos well. See if they will budge on the price at all, and if they will pursue that one and see what comes of it. Good luck.
here is a review of edmunds between evo IX and sti this should give u an idea.

woooo wait, did you say an evo will be wayyyy cheaper to get into the 11s then a fox? As in...cheaper to get into the 11s then my fox body mustang?? As in cheaper to get into the 11s then my 1991 mustang gt. Because if thats what your saying, no offense to evo's, thats a joke.
I might not know evo's that well, however I know foxes inside and out. I bought my fox for 2500. I had it in the 11s with a decent heads/cam/intake and suspension. I could easily have it in the 9/10s if i either sprayed or had a turbo/supercharger.
Someone above said it would cost i think they said 3 or 5 thousand to get me in the 11s. So its a hell of a lot cheaper to get a fox into the 10s/9s for that price lol.
Anyways, thats all besides the point. Im not saying that evo's are worst then foxes, im just saying overall for a fox, you can go in a straight line cheaper then an evo.
So, with that being said, what do you guys think about the brand new evo X coming out? I don't know what the price tag is supposed to be on it, but if its reasonable I could probably grab it.
However if I do go that route, I will have to pay dealership price + more for mods. I would probably be better off buying a used one and then modding it.
I really don't know jack about evo's let alone imports. The only 2 imports I have owned in my life is a nissan 300zx, and a nissan 300zx turbo.
I have found out that the saying "boost gets you laid" is very very true lol. I have been this close -- to supercharging/turboing my stang, however the suspension will never be that of a evo/sti/audi, nor will the driving capabilities aka RWD>AWD be up to par.
So, overall, what do you think I should get, evo wise, and whats a decent price to pay for one with mileage.
Example, what would you pay for an evo 6, 7, 8, 9 with 20k, 30k, 40k. Miles.
Hopefully I can find a stock one, however if little minor things are already done, thats fine. How often do you need to do tuneups on these kinds of cars? IE, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, distributor, fuel filter, air filter, etc. I know on my 5.0 we need to change these pretty often, atleast in my opinion its pretty often, how about on these cars?

hmmm heres something interesting, my buddy said he has a friend, that has an evo 6 with 32k miles, that hes willing to sell for 12.5k I dont know if he was just bs'ing, or lieing, or just talking to talk. But if its legit, im deffinately going to jump all over it. I mean hell, for 12.5k, if its in good shape and theres nothing wrong. I could replace everything, and still be cheaper then buying the 27,000 dollar evo im looking at in chicago lol.
I could replace the tranny, the clutch, the flywheel, pay for install, etc. haha, but seriously.
Not that i really would do all that, nor want to do all that, but if i can pick up an evo for 12.5k that would be sick. Im calling the guy tomorrow to let you all know whats up.
How much are the brand new evo x's. The 2008/9's or something.
