Issues with Fan (Air or heat)?

I'm just curious to see if anyone has had issues with your fan (for heat and air). As of last night, my fan only comes on when I turn it on the high setting. If I turn back to 3, 2 or 1 the fan turns off. Also, this may be a dumb question but does the AEM have any control over this?

I'm going to give Mitisubishi a call but I wanted to see if anyone has had this issue before.

Thanks for the feedback guys/gals.

Mike

are you talking about the actual heater/ac fan or the engine fan?

03 VIII's have all kinds of issues with heating/air controls. There is a TSB...

Sorry, I should have been a litte more specific. I'm referring to the fan in the car. It only comes on when I turn the knob to 4. 1, 2 or 3 doesn't work.

Technical Service Bulletin. Cars that have known issues will usually have TSBs, which are sorta like car-part recalls, and most of the time the fixes are done for free by the manufacturer at no cost (For example: My seatbelt airbag sensors in the Porsche, '99s have a TSB to get them fixed with different connectors because the original ones had issues, would've cost me around 500 dollars, the dealer did it for free, and I definitely don't have a warranty.)

Take it to the dealer and have them check it out, I bet something is wrong with the switch. If the fan on 4 is running at a slower speed it could be a power issue, if it runs at normal speed then it is probably just something weird with the switch.

you need a new resistor....
thats all that is.
not sure where its located at in these cars, but it shouldnt be to much for the dealer to fix it

I agree, resistor is probably bad. Position 4 allows full voltage to the fan motor, where 1-3 are reduced via the resistor. If that is open (broken) then no voltage flows, no fan motor spins.
