Evo IX oil

Ok today i went to get my oil changed. They put in 5qts of oil. Then they told me that i need to get another quart because it needs 5.6 quarts of oil. So i drove got another court, went home and checked the dip stick. It was low so i threw in half the 1 quart of oil i bought. check the dip stick again and it raised but still not at the max. kept pouring this oil in and checking it then the next thing i know is my quart is gone. I check the dip stick again and it was at it's max.

Has anyone used this much before????....im kinda freaking out i put to much in but i will recheck tomorrow morning, i'm just let it sit all night. I also gotta check the filter they used their own and idk if it will be good.

Let it sit about 2 hours before checking your oil. Otherwise you will get an incorrect reading. I think that is your issue, if not, then check for leaks asap.

BTW: I just did my oil change 2 weeks ago, she drank 4.6qts on the dot.

Let's use some common sense...

You're asking if you have to re-do your oil change if you have too much oil??

no just crack your drain plug a little bit, then recheck your dipstick level again. Next time do your own oil change so this doesn't happen again. An oil change is one of the easiest thing to do on the Evo besides filling up your gas. Your first mistake was going to the stealership.

You went to get your oil changed and they told you to get another quart cause it was low??? Why didn't THEY add more until it was at the correct level?

yeah and i dont know if anyone else can vouch or have this problem but my last oil change i could only fill 3.5-4.0 quarts. I did a search on evom.net and some members were saying you should run the oil pretty hot(like drive 20+miles at higher speeds, example coming back from work etc) and let the oil cool a little then drain. Some members were saying you would get more oil out from the pan and also from the oil cooler. just my .02 cents. will try on my next oil change.
