Debadging the Evo

why do i see so many evos and even wrxs with no badges? is it because of security reasons? i think it makes the car less attractive... i think the evo with all its original badges are beautiful, what do you guys think?

just wondering because im getting my evo this weekend (will post pics as soon as i get it), and it has all the orignal badging but if debadging will lower the chances of my car getting jacked, i guess ill have to settle for the plain look

i narrowed down my choices to these 2 evos .before choosing the blue ix just waiting to go to the credit union to approve for the new car rate. done deal though.

26,000$/10k miles but has tons of mods ( i wanted a stock evo) so i didnt choose this one but look at the plain trunk.

26,995$/12k miles but i went to the dealership and lowered that price to 24,995$ (completely stock with the badges)

thanks in advance for all inputs

I hardly see any evos de-badged. seems like everyone has the UK Evo badge on thier cars.

i think its just a prefferance thing.
i hate evos without wings but some people dont like the wing so they take them off
the great thing about cars is you can do whatever you want to it

I don't think having the badges or not having badges will determine if your car will get stolen.I wouldn't put too much thought into the badges being on or off the car.Its more of a clean look that some people prefer.I would do a search in the show and shine section. You will probably find some pics of EVO's with and without badges.Good luck with the EVO.

i don't think the badges have anything to do with cars getting stolen. the people doing it know what they are looking for. Purely a preferance my friend. Good luck with your decison.

Preference, looks much cleaner to me, like the guys with 9's that remove the front Mitsu emblem. My girlfriend keeps saying it looks like I got in a wreck and the car wasn't rebadged (because they're gone). I think it looks realllly clean now. I see alot debadged here in Austin.

"Makes the car look unattractive?" That double-negative threw me off, lol...

I Think it's just a matter of preference and makes your car look different. It's like people with smoke tints, rims or carbon fiber hood etc. It makes your car stand out. I don't know where the trend started.

On my old 04 Lancer ES I debadged the rear and relocated 'Lancer' where the is.

My Evo IX has the 'Lancer Evolution' debadged and just the . I guess it's just the non-oem look people are attracted to.

And another thing... atleast Mitsu Owners have the option of de-badging cleanly. The Honda guys have 2 holes!! Yuck!

the car will get jacked whether you have badges or not. I think cops have a harder time telling what car your driving.

^ but we do have a lancer??

I have all of mine removed, and I did it because I had an afternoon to spare. I re-badged it with something different, (read: not the UK badge), and I am happy with it. Plus, nobody knows what the heck I drive, sort of funny to me when people look at it with a confused face.

I prefer without because to me it looks cleaner and shows exterior mods better without being so busy. But to each his own
