First Dyno tune, What can I look forward to?

Ok,
So I am going to get the car dyno tuned in two weeks. Dyno is a pretty good ways away so I dont have easy access to dyno often and $$ comes in too. I have never even seen a dyno in person so I dont know what to expect. So what I am asking is, what are things that you all recommend I have prepared before I go and what results can I expect with my mods with a decent tune. I dont have a super tuner close and havent heard much about the tuner but they have experience with evo's but work mainly with sti's. Mods pertaining to go and not show are as follows:

Buschur 2.3l block
GSC 272/272 cams
ARP head studs
Megan Racing manifold
20g-9LT green turbo
BR lower IC pipe
BR deluxe IC
BR upper IC pipe
AEM intake
Ebay O2 housing
AMS TBE with test pipe
Walbro 255lph
Greddy boost running 22psi on 93oct

I will have larger injectors and be converting to MAP, they are going to be tuning my AEM EMS but right now I am running on an old Dynoflash. I do have to say that I love the 2.3l from BR, everything I have received from them has been a pure beauty. Thanks for looking and I am just looking for advice on my first dyno but if you have a guestimation then let er rip.

the only thing you really need to worry about is having at least a half tank of gas (specific shop recommended) and have the same gas you usually use in your tank at the time. i.e. don't put in shell 92 on tune day when you usually pump 76 92, though it doesn't make that much of a difference.

i'm assuming all your parts mentioned above are all installed? if so what parts did u have on when the car was on its first flash, before the additional parts. I'm assuming you bought the car used, because you stated that you've never been to the dyno??? depending, you might see a big increase to a minimal increase, but either way you'll leave the dyno with a more reliable motor and a warm fuzzy that all your parts are working together more efficiently.

my car, before a 91 tune in socal only made 220ish to the wheels, which was really rough with all the parts installed. after the tune i left the dyno at 290whp. tuning did wonders for me as i was only at 220whp with the same parts on without a tune (ecuflash only). i'm acutally gonna get a tune tomorrow morning here in WA, at English Racing, and i know that i'm gonna make more power because the WA 92 vs CA 91, and the fresher more dense air in the Northwest.

i hope i answered some of your questions, and if your interested i can let you know about how my tune went.

Werd, I bought the car stock. Only mod was a dealer reflash. I just aquired the bigger turbo, stroker and the upper ic pipe so it was flashed for everything else. I have an af gauge and I know right now it is rich, mid 10's on wot so I have a lot to gain. I just want to get the most out of the mods I have and for everything to run smooth. I am really stoked about it and plan to get vids and pics of everything. Proly be awhile before i am able to do it again.

Please share yours, thats what I am shooting for on this thread.

If you haven't already...remove the undertray. It will save you the headache of strapping it down to the dyno.

You will def. leave there with a smile on your face after the tune...g/l!!!

I would check your plugs and replace them if its been a while. Check your oil and all your fluids, change oil if its been awhile....do a boost leak test (you might never know you have one unless you check), make sure everything is nice and tight...

Contact the shop doing your tune and ask them what else they would recommend you to do prior to making it there....especially if you have a ways to drive to get there....would be a shame to have to come back without a dyno tune if you missed something....Just my opinion as this has happened to me before with Vishnu.

I had a blast watching my car get tuned for the first time on a dyno...bring your camera and camcorder if you have one!!

Thanks for your suggestions. I got rid of that undertray I while ago, I hated taking that on and off. I had planned on doing an oil change and the plugs before I left. But the boost check is a good idea. I basically bought the whole day in order to set up my EMS. I asked them what I should do about my MAP sensor and temp sensor, install before or just wait but I haven't heard yet. I will call again monday.

Expect to make less power than what you think you should make. That way you will not be disapointed. I have done that to myself so many times...lol

^I really have no idea what to expect so I guess I won't be disapointed. I am hoping to have a meth/alky kit in before hand so I can set up the EMS for it. Judging by some of the cars they have done compared to the mods, there dyno may read a little higher than others. Only thing that is good for is bragging rights around town. I hope to get a real solid tune out of it.

Be ready for your torque to be more than your horsepower! A 2.3 with that green is going to be crazy! Make sure to do a boost leak test. Cant wait to see the results.

As long as you use top tier gas, this really shouldn't be too much of a concern...Chevron, 76, Shell, etc.

Hmm... i wish they would rate which retailers used "top tier" for their high octane offerings (exxon sunoco?)
