7-8 Months without Oil change

I got a 03 Evo 2 weeks ago. (another one) 57xxx miles. the guy I bought it from told that the car was sitting for 7 to 8 months with no oil change etc... (really bad I know) what products should I use to clean the engine and gain some hp. the car is stock, I just want to hear some opinions of what should I do and safe for the engine. thanks.

what do you mean clean the engine? do you mean clean it internally? Just change the oil and filter...if you need to know what oil and filter to use run a search theres 100 threads on it. Goodluck with the new car!

Just change the oil & filter man. I was considering using seafoam, but I don't think its good for these cars..

I have 50xxx miles, and just have been changing the oil every 2k miles.

Thanks guys... What I'm trying to say is that the burn oil is been sitting there for 8 months or more. (Sludge) May be? and I guess is been using Mobil 1.

No need to do anything special, just change the oil+filter and then again every 3k-4.5k miles, it will keep itself clean.

The sludge is minimal, if any at all. Mobil 1 is good oil and the fact that it is synthetic is even better. I agree, just change the oil and filter, the viscosity is certainly broken down, but highly unlikely that the motor needs to cleaned out. My car sat that long last year, I just changed the oil and filter, and away I went without a hitch! If you really are worried about it, do two oil changes w/ a new filter each time on it. Do the first one and run it for 15 or 20 minutes and then change it again. But you really don't need to.

You can try stuff like seafoam. But like others have said a simple oil change will do.

Change the oil now and if your still worried about it do it again after 500 miles. Mobile one is a great oil. I bet the sludge build up is minimal.

You can try a product called Motor Flush. There are a couple of companies that make them, Gunk, and Amsoil. I used to use it in my previous car, with no ill effect, but some people say it's bad for the oil pump.

put new oil and filter and run for a couple hundred proly a thousand miles. It shouldnt have hurt any sitting for that long and would burn up most everything anyway.
