EVO impressions

I now have approx 700 miles on the car. Absolutely love it. Three complaints:

1) The instrument cluster looks like it came from a Yugo

2) 12 gallon gas tank (minor issue)

3) No cruise control. I don't really use it, but it seems inexcusable in a $30,000 car.

Other than the above, great car!

yeah i'm not really feeling the instrumentation either. not that i own an EVO but that's one part i love about the OZ better than the EVO. and also, if anyone knows, weren't they supposed to make the gas tank bigger in the EVO VIII's? or atleast bigger than the VII's tank? i thought i read that somewhere.

The VIIIs gas tank is bigger than the 7s and is bigger than the EU version (I think I read it somewhere). An aftermarket tank with at least hold 15 gallons should be cool, 20 would even be better.

supposedly it's 14, and I've put 13.5 into my tank several times during fillups so it sounds realistic...

20 gallon?? That would make it a whale! (not literally, but 20 is too much)

One of my biggest gripes is that $30 large doesn't even buy you a locking glove box.

And what does a locking glovebox accomplish?

If people are that concerned about fuel capacities, couldn't we just bolt a fuel cell into the trunk? ---not that I am that desperate.

SC~

What if I want to toss my face plate or wallet into the golve box, and lock it? My old POS Tempo at least had a locking glove box.

Personally, I found locking gloveboxes to be more of a panacea than anything.

I owned a soft top Jeep with a locking console. The general consesus amongst Jeep owners was "If the console is locked, it won't stop anyone from getting in but your console will be destroyed in the process."

A locked glovebox would take mere seconds to destroy with the right tools.

My two cents.
