I have the rx65. The passport 8500 and the rx65 are the same. If you do some research you will find out the they use the same board. I rarely ever get a false alarm and the few times that laser has gone off, it's totally accurate. Here is a comparison test...

Now that u mention it, i have a V1 and every time my laser goes off i think i do remember seeing an FX around. over the past few years, i have developed a habit of looking in my mirrors every 3-4 secs for cops, as well as where other cars are around me, so thats why noticed the FXs. It seems like its only the past two years or so that this has started happening. I would think to myself whats up with this thing...Now it all makes sense.

i dont think i ever doubted it though. I got the V1 after i got two tickets right after i got my license at 16 and didnt get another one until last year. i think 8 years in between tickets is good enough to have faith in the V1.

plus i dont think i would have gotten the ticket last year if i wasnt driving an EVO. i speed all the time in my other cars, even passing cops (but of course, i was going like 65 when they were going right on 60), and i wouldnt even get a look from them.

My 8500 acted just like that from day one.. every time im wide open laser would pop up. I called Crutchfield sent it back got another one and its never happened again. I did check the serial number to make sure they didnt repair it and send it back to me.

Seems like the 8500 has issues...Should I just get the RX65? They mention it being 'tougher'. Are there new models coming out soon I should wait for?

I have a Cobra XRS. I haven't seen any Laser signal yet. It's mostly K and Ka band. Besides, I have not gone max at 5th gear yet. Maybe not until I'm at the circuit track. More safer and no cops to worry about when going over 100s.

Has anyone experience no detection of X-band from the Valentine One? Im not getting any signal at all while my friend who was half a mile or so behind me was picking up x band like crazy on the same street. It was from a cop car that was hiding in a closed gas station.

horns set off my buddies 8500. Lay on the horn & Laser goes off, even his own horn set it off.
