One autocross or track day in the vette after the same in the evo and your mind will be made up for you.

Vette's are nice but Evos are just different animals. All depends on what you like.

okay, i'm just gonna throw this out there, and all you guys with vettes can chime in. all you guys with your evo rattles and the transfer case issues, pay attention if you're gonna trade for a vette or zo6. there was an issue with the steering column locking up in the vettes that required replacement of the column and associated wiring to fix. it is a safety recall. the car won't even start unless you do something with the trunk/hatch. LOL. the vettes have issues also, probably a couple more but that is one of the major ones. my friend bought an 01 zo6. thats how i know about it. VERY EXPENSIVE IF YOU HAD TO PAY TO HAVE IT DONE. but still a nice car. unless it was a 2006 and up zo6, i would not trade. good luck.

That was on the early C5 vettes, its a non issue now because all you have to do is find one that has had the TSB done which is pretty much all of them

There is really no reliability issue with the corvette it is as bulletproof as bulletproof gets.

The evo just offers a tottally different experience and you just need to pick which experience you would rather have.

They make a column lock bypass you can buy for like $40 to fix this issue. Only problem is, the steering wheel won't lock at all anymore when parked. However, GM's fix does the same thing; they just remove the locking mechanism altogether. My fiance has a '00 C5 and I bought him the column lock bypass for xmas when he first got the car 3 years ago. It's still sitting untouched in its box in the garage. All cars have issues, and even the big, bad Corvette is not immune to stupid problems.

One good thing about the 'vette over the Evo, the 6-speeds at least get insane gas mileage on the highway. According to the car's DIC (I dunno how accurate it is), cruising at 80 mph in 6th still nets like 30+ mpg.

Personally, the C5 is fun, but it's just not my style. I feel like I'm down in a cave w/ 20 feet of hood in front of me. I can't see a damn thing out of it, even w/ the seat raised.

Shoot man....since you have a DD, build the damn 4G, beef up for tranny, put in a 35R and go run 10's all day and leave Z06's in your rearview. Now if either the vette or Evo was your only ride, my vote would go to getting the vette. Not alot beats high naturally aspirated power in terms of reliability. Some food for thought.

Kinda difficult, as the two cars arent remotely like each other. Authentic domestic RWD V8 two seater sports car vs. imported four door suped-up econobox.

IMO, if you NEED the ability to carry more than one person, the Corvette is out of the question, although I doubt you would even consider it at all if that was the case.

If speed and modification is what your after, I would jump all over the Z06. As badass as the new Z06s are , the C5 Z06s are by no means no slouch. Despite what many people on here will say, probably more than half of the people on here won't even be in visual range of a bolt on C5 Z06, from a dig or a roll. Mods for it are about just as expensive as the Evolution, and I would imagine reliability to be the same if not better.

And while the Corvette may not be as small and nimble as the Evo, to say that it dosnt handle is stupid.

Z06>Evolution IMO.

The more cylinders you need the more you're making up for your little member.

Vettes look like launch ramps just like most American cars do.
