Boost Gauge Power Tap Issue

Hey fellas,

Well last weekend I had a friend help me install my Defi boost gauge.

Anyway he's installed a lot of boost gauges so I figured I could trust his help.

We tapped the power to the wires in the steering column because I have a steering column pod.

To make a long story short, I noticed that my key fab doesn't work anymore. I figured it was just the battery first, but nope.

So what do I need to check for? I'm guessing it has something to do with us tapping the power to those wires.

Thanks in advance.

if you disconnect the gauge completely and return the wires to their original state, does everything work then?

I'm no pro here, but I have a lot of car audio experience (amateur experience, not professional).. and being familiar with wires behind the dash, I hooked up my gauge to the Positive, Remote, and Dimmer wires from the back of the radio. Works like a charm..

I'm hoping so. Thats what I'll be trying once I get the time. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or had any suggestions.

+1 for the radio harness, I would say return the column to stock.

yea i have the same set up and i just run the power wire down the column and to the right, pulled out the fuse for the IPC (cluster) and tucked the wire behind it and pluged fuse back in. has worked fine for 3 months.

I spliced into the cigarette lighter wires, so mine functions with the lights on/off switch.

I spliced into the dimmer switch wire (green and white) in front of the cabin fuse box. Worked fine.

my way doesn't require cutting of any wires so if ur a noob or would just rather not cut wires it makes it real easy and zero chance or electrical problems from dropin voltage over a splice
