Evo misses and backfires above 5000 rpm

Hey all,

I drive a 99 evo 6 and just recently its been missin and backfiring once the revs get near 5000 rpm and above, and acceleration isnt smooth. Anything below 5000 rpm and its fine. I havent modified it in any way as of yet. Has anyone else had this sort of problem or know what might be causing the problem as its givin me the ****s

first things first, check or change your plugs.

Then check ignition coil/ wires. then loook for fuel pressure ( pump/ filter/ injectors)

Like he said you probably need to re-gap or change out your spark plugs.

not getting enough fuel maybe?...you should be using 93 octane.

weather below 34 degrees Fahrenheit can sometimes cause for a boost spike that can sometime lead to a fuel cut... a boost controller would remedy that if you don't have one already... just another idea.

I would change out your plugs if nothings been modified yet. If that doesn't work I'd look into fuel delivery/quality issues.
