Has anyone broken a timing belt?

So I understand that 4g63's are interference motors and a timing belt break will devastate everything. But has that ever happened to anyone here? If so at what mileage did it occur?

Change your belt at 60k and you will be alright. Breaking a timing belt doesn't happen often as the belt skipping cam gear teeth.

this is a maintenance thing you don't want to put off for later.

my car just hit 56K last week....it's already scheduled for the 60K maintenance...as others said, nothing smart about taking a chance and delaying it.

There is nothing at all wrong with the OEM belt.

Some people have had issues with the oil pump and chipping cam gears using Kevlar belts so its OEM for me. Sometimes spending more money may not necessarily be a good thing.

Back when the 4G63 first came to the US in 1990 all the OEM belts were bad. There was a recall. Some people responded and some ignored the recall. So, has a belt ever broken? Yeah, certainly hundreds but probably thousands.
