momo steering wheel issues?
While I shouldn't be too surprised, it would appear that "Momo"-labelled products are not in fact created with old-world traditions by the hands of fine Italian artisans...
...but seem to actually be made by the somewhat less romantic "Key Safety Systems" company, headquartered in Michigan.
This is based on some info I found on a Subie site:

so it may be entirely wrong (but it seems very plausible to me).
Aside from Mitsu itself, here are some addresses from the aformentioned post should anyone feel motivated to make their voice heard:

Everyone, please complain to ... (and if applicable MOMO), ...? Also, MOMO will blow you off stating that they didn't make the steering wheel (Key Safety Systems did), MOMO only licensed their name to be used. But, if they are going to allow their name to be on a product, they should make sure it is a quality product!

Are the ones they replaced any better? Mine is starting to peel. Sort of makes me mad. The leather is paper thin. I think paper might be slightly thicker than it actually. Sort of surprised that MOMO would be like this. I read the above post and it actually isn't a MOMO steering wheel. Sort of B.S. Putting your name on a ****ty product is not a way to build brand loyalty. If I'm ever in the market for an after market, I'll be sure to skip over them now. Going to call dealer this week though and ask for a replacement.
The steering wheel on my IX is starting to come apart at the 6 o'clock position and it only has 16k miles. It doesn't look that bad and I really don't mess with it but its a little disappointing. Not to mention for some reason the sides of the steering wheel have these white marks all around it like the color fell off lol. I think I'm gonna have it reupholstered in black suede.
