Having an issue with my Evo.

For the past month or so i have been having a misfire issue. When i drive the car hard sometimes i hear puffing noises when im above 5.5k rpms or so. Before, i took it to autozone to have them check if it was throwing a code, and it was a cylinder #4 misfire. I changed the spark plugs and took it into the Mitsubishi dealership. They switched the coil plugs to see if the misfire would follow. the SES light was off for a day then it went back on and has been on ever since. I took it to Autozone again and now its a multiple/random misfire. I still hear the puffing noise.

If anyone has any idea what could be wrong please tell me what you think. Thanks!!

make sure your coils are ok. if they are an you changed your plugs you might want to consider a compression check!

Yet another 2003 VIII P0300 issue.

Check/replace plugs and check gaps. I don't think it'd be the coil pack. Maybe spark blowout?

I had the P0300 issue on my stock motor IX for one day and again a few weeks after, CEL cleared itself and I took it to the stealership afterwords and they didn't know what it was either. Everything checked out fine according to them.

I haven't had it since. Hope you figure it out dude.

that could be a coil pack problem...coil is where spark is made...coil/bad = misfire
