I dont know about your state but most states like NY have a three minute alarm policy. If it doesn't go off after three minutes the cops could give you a huge ticket. So whats the use really? Not only will you have a broken window and valuables stolen but on top of all that you get a ticket. Cops can also tow your car if they cannot shut it off or contact the owner.

install a perimeter sensor with pager to drive away mischief. I meter away, my alarm sends a warning beep, step in closer like 1 foot from the car, the car goes ballistic and sends me running towards it with my long range pager alarm(compustar)

People can argue against it all they want but the facts are the facts. In a parking lot full of cars, all with the same upgraded audio/video equipment:

1. a thief will be damn near 100% more likely to break into all the cars that lack an alarm first.
2. The cars with factory alarms will be hit next because they usually dont have shock/interior proximity sensors.
3. The cars with aftermarket alarms may not be touched at all.
That is trhe truth and it is fact. In my parents neighborhood, a good one at that, a group of guys went driveway to driveway one night and broke in every car on that street and stole every aftermarket radio/amp/gps/anything they could find. I had my doors accidentally unlocked that night, but my alarm was armed. Guess whos car still had everything in it!!! My car was untouched!!!

And now for some sick humor.... BOOSTEZ, maybe it was a X fanboy!!!!
No but seriously, good luck getting it all worked out bro.

man that blows ***, but if you are willing to shell out that kind of cash for all that stereo equipment between those two cars, why not a few hundred for a bad a$$ alarm system? Is it going to completely stop someone from breaking in? obviously not, but if you are parked in places like 3 spots from the door at Kohls, it will definately keep that much crap from happening to your ride. Again, it sucks a$$ and I feel for ya, but learn from this 1,2, and 3 times over...

This is exactly why I am putting a Compustar system in my car. Especially since I am in Atlanta for a year and there are a lot of unscrupulous people in this area.

Well my MR2 is a second summer car for me. Try a 90-99 Civic for a daily driver. I picked up my 95 Civic for a grand and don't mind beating on it. In reality it cost 1200 because I had to put a new motor in after a turbo accident weak rods in a 1.5L. Good luck with the repairs.

get an alarm and get some dark tints on it so the can't really scope out what's in your car and if they do break the window, it be a ***** for them and also won't be such a mess. last year someone broke into my 97gsx, but took all my guages and safc, but left the boost controller and the main harness for the safc. sucks ***** but good luck to ya.
