Id buy it for 10k with no drivetrain (Clean Title). As long as the frame is staight you cant go wrong.

Sounds like a scam to me. I would take a mechanic with you to see the car. Good luck with it.

i dont like the middle man part...sounds fishy - i don't understand y he needs to go through a car company to get this deal through...if you can give us some specifics about this part it would def shed some light (i'm thinking it might be stolen)

Umm, this is a typical scam. Honestly, what this guy is asking you to do is something i've read about before. You will loose your deposit, and never see any vehicle. The escrow and shipping companies are fake. They even setup fake, professional looking, websites for both companies. Unless you see the car IN person, and can take it to a mechanic, don't do it.

If it's a salvaged title then 10k sounds about right. Saw plenty of evos for that price but none with a clear title!
But I agree though that... it's the shipment/payment method makes it sound 100% like a scam.

Appearntly he is going through a car company and how this is going to work is i put down $2900 in this safe account thing and the guy ships the car to me. I will have it for about a week to drive and get it checked and do whatever i got to do.

If i dont like it, i can send it back and get my 2900 back, or if i want to keep it i just send the other 7100...

does that sound legit or sketchy?[/QUOTE]

Will be a con!!!!!!

You will pay the $2900 and never hear back and your money will be gone

I tend to agree with the line of thought. If you are serious about this purchase I would seriously consider doing a face-to-face transaction then you can see for yourself the quality of the vehicle and if this is a scam or not.

I say scam, stay away from it.

SCAM. After you send the $2900 deposit you'll never hear from him again.
