should i get this???? help

so im getting an evo IX

i found a local guy selling his for $10k flat.

i went and looked at it and it seems to be in PERFECT condition.. even the engine looks very lightly used.

but 10k for an EVO IX MR? i am still sketchy, what do u think could make this guy want to get rid of it for such a low price?

UPDATE:

Sorry, but my father gave me false info and it is NOT LOCAL.

IT only has 25500 miles, so i dont think anythign can be worn out.

Appearntly he is going through a car company and how this is going to work is i put down $2900 in this safe account thing and the guy ships the car to me. I will have it for about a week to drive and get it checked and do whatever i got to do.

If i dont like it, i can send it back and get my 2900 back, or if i want to keep it i just send the other 7100...

does that sound legit or sketchy?

SUPER UPDATE!

thank you everyone for your help. I've decided he is probably a scam.

I have reported him to the online fraud section of the FBI and i have reported him to cars.com

anything else i can do to ruin his life?

It has no engine...? That sounds too good to be true. Did you drive it? If your seriously considering it than take it to a good mechanic. Also does he have a listing anywhere (Ebay, Autotrader?)

That's entirely too low for a IX without having something seriously wrong with it. Definitely have it looked at before you commit to anything. If you can take some pictures of the car and post them on here.

Sketchy. For example: Guy might have spun a rod bearing and is just trying to cut his lossess. If that car didn't have an engine, the price would seem a little more reasonable.

That's the key word here... And looks can be deceiving. Definitely have it checked out. Have a mechanically inclined friend come with you to see it even (if he refuses to let you take it somewhere). Get a car fax report on it and check for matching VIN's throughout the engine bay and cabin. 10k is way WAY too low for a IX anything, let a lone an MR. I just had someone try to talk me into selling him my car for $31k. (My car isn't even for sale mind you) Honestly, I wouldn't trust this at all and would be inclined to just walk away. Although unlikely, you might have just found yourself the deal of a lifetime.

Ask if it has a clean title and if you can drive it...

It is conceivable that you did find a hell of a deal but to be on the safe side have it checked it both by a Carfax report and inspected by a mechanic. I'm inclined to say the engine or transmission has problems if the price is this cheap and the exterior and interior look good.

That does sound too good to be true. The main thing to be looking for is the frame, drivetrain, title and of course engine. For that price, even if the engine is bad and everything else is good, you can get it rebuilt and beefed up ot get a crate engine for around 5k for about the same price. You're still doing good.

Carfax,
Mechanic,
Drive it (When you drive it ,Beat on it and check for noises, Listen to every gear wind down.)
10k Sounds like a salvage title, He might have totaled it and rebuilt it

And the winner is... Even if it isn't salvage on Carfax, it still could be salvage... Maybe he got in a horrible accident, fixed it all to look good and is selling it to buy one that hasn't be wrecked.

Or maybe there is marajuana hidden in the trunk... Quick buy it now!
