Warped Flange?

Any of you guys had issues with your test pipe flanges warping?

For a long while I thought the stock gaskets reused were the problem of my exhaust leak at the test pipe.

Well I ordered brand new 2 bolt 3" gaskets and after installing I still get an exhaust leak. I inspected closer and it seems like the flanges are warped and the two flanges are not mating tightly.

I bought the Megan Racing resonated test pipe used and its been leaking since day one. With the car running I can see the condensated water spraying/dripping and when I put my hand there I can feel the exhaust leaking out.

I might just throw this away and buy a new one. I'm just curious if any one had the same issue with their Test pipes, whether its a Megan Racing or something else...

No I have the Tanabe test pipe and no issues it came with gaskets. If they are bent then it is never gonna seal 100% I would just get a new one and be done with it.

But I'm wondering why they would warp... I just ordered a brand new test pipe (should have gotten a new one in the first place), but I'm a little worried that from the heat cycle at this time if my downpipe and catback flange will warp as well connected to that test pipe.

This sucks, I wasted soo much time going under the car retightening the bolts and changing the gasket etc...

I really don't think the heat would be the problem maybe something happened to it by the person who sold it to you. Is it a heavy guage mine looks like you could run over it a not hurt it.

Well its pretty thick, not as thick as the OEM flanges. I think the material counts more than the the thickness.

What puzzles me is how they became this way? A mechanic friend guesses that it was probably bolted on incorrectly by the original owner and over time the heat cycles slowly warped it. He told me I can probably file it or get a machine shop to do it, but I rather just get a new one.

I guess this is a first then... Thanks for your replies.

Hmmm, Maybe go with a different company. You could have just gotten a defective one, did you try calling megan directly and informing them of your situation???

Well no point in calling Megan since I bought it used. If I got it new then for sure I would call them.

I would still call them how do they now you got it used or not, they can still offer customer service therefore provide some insight to your dilemma.
