Yes ... It's really not that hard, and trust me it's not a pleasing experience when you boil your fluid. Had that happen to me the very first track day - the very first session... From then on brakes+ fluid, very important to me

Exactly.

That's why it was #1 on my list. It happens to everyone. Go get 3 bottles of Motul RBF and bleed out the stock fluid.

It's not worth ruining your day with bad brakes.

What type of track is it? Will you be exceeding 80mph or stopping fast a lot?

If so, you NEED to get some different pads before you go. Your stock pads will FAIL or you will eat them up completely before the end of the day.

Brakes are your first thing you do on a track car. Without them, nothing else matters.

Armor-All on tires is BAD...

Did that once and only once. First lap was SCARY...

Especially if your 5 yr-old son puts it on the actual tread... First Porsche I test drove, no joke

Anyway, brake fluid #1
brake pads (if it is a track like Fireball described, if not the stocks aren't that bad) #2
Check oil #3
Have fun #4

Seriously, I know you said for no one to say it, but the car comes pretty damn ready for the track from the box. I NEVER had heat issues other than brakes and tires (which were quickly remedied before the next event)... The longest session I did was only 40 minutes though, and I did have an accusump that helped (or at least seemed to help) keep oil temps down.

If it's a high speed track, YES they are!

You'll chew through them in 1 - 2 sessions if you have consistent speeds above 80.

OP says they are in OC (Orange County?) If so, then I'll probably be at the same track event as you (3/21/08 with SpeedVentures?) @ Streets of Willow...

Don't worry too much. Your car is relatively new. I tracked my evo on stock everything, minus brake fluid. You WILL kill your stock pads that day if you drive aggressive enough. I would recommend getting fresh oil for the engine, and swap out the brake fluid for something that can handle the heat.

It is Streets of Willow. Looks like its going to be an outragously crowded day there too.. Theres a lot of braking, and Ill probably be hitting 100 just at the end of the straight.

What pads should I go out and get? Ive only got another day before the track...Or should I just waste through the stock ones and put new ones AFTER?

Thanks for all the input guys

Yes I'm sure there is something about it here or on the forums. And as far as brakes go - Hawk HP+, very nice and aggressive, but if you have any vendors local, they should have it in stock
