Evo Slow...

Last night I got on the highway, saw that it was clear, decided to rip it just a bit. I was going 40mph in second and punched it. Car felt really strong until I got to 7000 rpm. The car seemed to slow down. The rpms still went up but the car didnt pull. I checked my plugs they seem ok. Do you think its my clutch slipping?

Put your car in 5th gear and floor it. If your rpm's go up and your car doesn't go any faster, your clutch is slipping.

What do you normally rev it too? Do you still run the stock turbo?

I would think if your clutch is going to slip it would start when your making the most torque, not when your all the way up in the revs.

Just hit peak boost in 5th and hold it for a while, you are creating a high load which will make the clutch slip if it is bad. Watch the tach for a spike then fall.

It doesnt really matter. 5th gear and flooring it will put the biggest load on the car so you can easily tell if its slipping. Just floor it between 30-50, it will be easy to tell.

It was a different feeling than the car losing power. You can feel the car lose power through the rpm gradually, this was all of a sudden.

Yeah I think anything north of 7600 is a little too high for stock turbo. VIII or IX. The head can only flow so well.

Stock cams?

Maybe you are just getting used to the power of the car.

If he had spark blow out or something, I think it would be more noticable and a lot sooner in the powerband. eg. 5k revs or so.
