Spark plugs Replaces at 13,000 miles

I have been reading a thread about spark plugs. Most people dont change it for awhile. I only have 13,000 miles and they need to be replaced already. I had a boost leak and I was driving the car for maybe 3000 miles. Is this the reason why?

How do you know they need to be replaced? Lot of carbon build up? Stock plugs should last a long time. They're expensive as well so you hope you don't replace them every other weekend unless you switch to copper or something.

I checked them last night and they were really pointy. Not flat anymore. I was thinking the same that they would last long since they are iridiums..

Dont get confused with all the Evo VIII people posting. The IX plugs cost $50.00 a set for OEM, lots more for 1 step colder. You want them to last as long as possible.

The guys that are changing them all the time are running probably running a copper plug that costs a few dollars. Yes a boost leak will cause your car to run rich under boost and could have fouled your plugs. These cars run pig rich to begin with and a boost leak will just make it worse.

Be careful, not many plugs will fit in a IX and most people run the OEM plugs, you can get them on sparkplugs.com by looking up the part number (owners manual).

Just change your plugs every oil change. For something that only cost a 1.75 a plug why would you wait? I treat oil changes and plugs changes like they where a fill up at my local shell. $28 for a oil change and plugs.

I replace mine every 15k but I do track my car...you can probably get away with replacing it every 30k if you only DD your car

anyone know if im running really rich if a fouled plug could cause a major power loss?

i feel like i've lost about 20 whp i have no boost leaks but i know the car runs quite rich from my dyno sheet. i feel the loss mainly in the torque but i know it's just plain lost power. clutch is good im coming up on 10k miles but my tune has been on for about 6k miles
