Mechanical to ProSport Electronic Boost Gauge.. Problems?

Long story short, I had a AutoMeter gauge that Buschur installed on my BR330 before I bought it. It alway worked fine but I heard it was inaccurate.

It read around 22 psi, tapering to high teens at redline. Which was fine.

I wanted to get something that was more accurate, looked a little better, and was electronic. I went with a Prosport after seeing it was a decent product in my friends car!

Now that I've installed the ProSport, the car is reading almost 25-26 psi, taper to 21 at redline, which is way too high for my Buschur flashed EVO running 94 octane.

I used the vacuum line from the AutoMeter to feed to the sensor for the ProSport, inside the cabin. I didn't cut the line or shorten it, so it's fairly long, running into the driver's side from the passenger side through the firewall... Could that be the problem here or was the AutoMeter really that off? Anything else that could be related to that?

I have a MBC as well, a Forge.

Thanks guys!

Electronic gauges prefer their map sensor to be tapped closer to the source for the best accuracy/consistency (ie: the vacuum line off the fpr). Also you have an MBC...turn it down thats why its there

i dont like my prosport gauge. i have a feeling its way off.
i mean it reads like 26-29 in. of vac at idle.....
and it tapped right in at the fpr line, with maybe 5 inches of vac hose so its gotta be the gauge, not my install

I had an autometer mechanical gauge and switched to prosport for cosmetic reasons and haven't had any problems.

Do you think it could be the length of my vacuum hose?

TTT, suggestions?

Could the Autometer seriously have been almost 6 psi off?

I got a Autometer boost gauge. Not very happy with it. Im tuned at 23 PSI but the damn thing only reads 19-20PSI. It could be the cheap plastic boost line it came with. i dont know...eitherway i think im 1st gonna try and get the rubber boost line and see if the problem gets fixed other wise i will go with ProSport or another brand that starts with "S". forgot the name.

I do like the way they look. Kinda like Defi.

I made the same switch you did... pretty much the same install too. I just cut the line for my mechanical one inside the cabin and hooked it up in the passenger side footwell. My gauge reads fine though and my autometer was off 4-5 psi which was my reason for switching. That and it looks better lol...

I've got the electrical prosport gauge, and it works perfect! (your seriously can't beat the bang for the buck factor on these gauges, even more so cause the lighting/coloring works perfect for evo's!!)
Anyway, I would safely say my gauge is within 1psi of actual. here's my proof: Some guy on this forum tested his Greddy ProfecB ebc gauge readout to a calibrated gauge, and it was only off by 0.3 or so. And my prosport is only off by +/- 0.5 psi from my profec.

I found this thread on google and I'm having the same problem. My WRX is tuned to 22psi, but my Prosport electric boost gauges reads 28psi at full boost. Has anybody come up with a solution for this?

Cross comparing with another boost gauge would be my first solution. Calling Prosport also sounds like a reasonable option

Get the mechanical gauge. It reads pretty accurate from my experience.

My old Greddy boost gauge showed 22psi. And, I have already called them, they send me a replacement boost sender, but it still shows 28psi.

I prefer the electric because it matched my oil temp gauge and I like the gauge sweep. Plus it was easier to install IMO.

I think the mech. gauges are much easier to install. All you have to do is just wire up the vac tube if you don't have one yet and wire up the power lines. That's about it. Maybe it's just me? lol
