Non-evo drivers..
The plasure is when you drive an Evo and see somebody else driving Evo too. Those feelings are hard to explain!!!! This feels like you share a bond with the other driver, like you are a part of some kind of secret club!!!
I've encountered many Evo drivers that were total a**hats, but thankfully most just give you a wave or thumbs up.
And back on topic, I too used to get excited when I saw an Evo on the road (these were back in my Initial D junkie days). In fact, that's what ultimately led me to get one (once I could afford it). I remember driving down Rt. 1 in Milford, CT and seeing a brand new, shiny as can be IX MR just gliding down the road. It was about 1am, it looked stock, but man oh man everything about it had me drooling. The lights, the paint, the sound...it just looked like it was something I could never own.
Welp, two jobs and three promotions later I got it
It really is.

You almost telling me my story, I saw 04 evos on showroom floor, and back in the days I thought I will never own one. But guess what 3 years later I finally got one not 04 but an 06 and now when people are talking about their dream cars I will just smile and say: I already own my dream car!!!
LOL you guys are funny. Anyways, I usually waive to other Evo or Lancer owners when I see them. It's just my way of showing respect to other owners.
to all Evo and Lancer owners out there!

Alright, good thread. I'd like to chime in as well. This thread is like therapy for aspiring-to-own-an-evo people. I feel like I'm at an alcoholics anonymous meeting... Hai guyz, my name is vic, I've been addicted to evos for over 1 year now... haha

I'm currently saving for a house and expect to buy a house within a year or so. The market is declining and hopefully Dubya attaches some kind of incentive provision for 1st time home buyers to the economic stimulus package bill (you know, the bill proposing $600 checks in June) to assist in my home purchase.
But most days during my long commute to work in my vw golf turbo diesel (50mpg ftw), I think about dropping my house down-payment money on a IX and just live in my parents house the rest of my life. LoL. And most days I nearly convince myself to do so, but by the time I arrive at work my more reasonable side says to get the house first and then get the evo.
And then there are "bad" days where I see a black evo on I-287 exit 12 (near Palisades Mall) that has an "I drink V8" sticker on it. The car looks so mean and totally differentiates itself from any other vehicle on the road. Completely bad a.ss!
There's another guy in my parking deck at work--broadway, white plains. A silver evo that just sounds vicious. I've only once been lucky enough to be in the deck the same time as he is pulling out. I was on the 5th level and I can hear this wicked exhaust and bov 3 levels above me as he's rolling down the switch-backs in 2nd gear. I imagine its the same sound God's vehicle makes as he travels home from the pearly gates each evening after his nightly status report with St. Peter.
Whats even worse is that I've never even sat in an evo, let alone driven one. Earlier one guy mentioned that the "mystique" goes away after you've owned one for a while, but almost every other long time owner reports that just seeing their evo turns them in to a kid again. I wonder which category I'd fit in?
I owned a 350z from '03 to '06 and briefly thought about getting an VIII back then instead of the z. I thoroughly enjoyed my z throughout my entire ownership and never got bored of it, or had buyer's remorse, but now I always wonder what those years would've been like with an evo instead.
I should be in a position to get another tuner car after I get my home, but I'm seriously leaning towards VIII/IX after lurking evom the past year. thx for listening.

I've owned my Evo ... wait ... let me rephrase that - My Evo has owned me for almost 4 years now. Make sure you understand this concept before buying one (kinda like 'owning' a cat).

Anyways, my wife and I moved into a new house last year. So a couple of weeks ago I'm driving down my block in my Suby - got a nice sunset going and I look up to see a smokin' hawt car parked in my neighbor's drive. I'm thinking to myself "damn, that's a nice looking car!" And as I get closer, I realize that I am actually looking at my driveway and my Evo. LOL!! Honestly this is the only car that I've ever felt that way about. Everytime I see it - driveway, parking lot, etc. - it puts a smile on my face.

The first Evo I saw (an VIII) was red, and I couldn't stop staring at it -- it was so low, squat and mean-looking; like a pit bull. Everything about it said power and aggression and performance. Later I saw another one at a gas station and it had the same effect on me.
I test-drove one and came this close to buying it; then I got an RX-8 instead. For years after that I wanted one. Finally traded in my RX-8 on an Evo IX about two years ago ...
Since then I've gotten used to it; take it for granted some days, but then other days ... like yesterday, I detailed mine and then walked up to it this morning and admired it from the rear three-quarter view, and it hit me all over again: The wide tires, squat stance, fat exhaust, boxed fenders; I freaking love this car.

good luck with finding your own evo
I love seeing them, driving them, working on them, talking about them, and yes I get that tingly feeling in my pants when one drives by, j/k. lol. I can't wait to someday trade up or at least sell the beast to create another one evo style!
Proud owner of a Beautiful '06 IX MR. Bring tears to my eyes, everytime I speak of it.
What can I say, park your car in an angle, turn the wheel a bit and just stare. I promise you, you'll be in a loss of words.
Guaranteed, or your money back. haha!
