I know a lot of people that race every week. If they lose a race, they dump more money in the car to go faster. They end up racing someone faster a week later and once again they dump more money in the car. It's a painful never ending cycle.[/QUOTE]

then that person has a pride problem ^^

Explaining my reaons for modding my car or dumping money into my car is a difficult thing to do.Tuning and modding have been a problem since my adolescent years.Started taking apart RC cars which lead to bikes and go carts, now its vehicles.I really cant dig deep down and find the cause of my madness. Its just who I am and what I enjoy doing.

As far as money is concerned..... If I didnt blow it on my evo, Id find other material things to blow it on.We only live once, whats the difference.Im one of those people who "lives for today". If living may be spending then so be it.Spend on!

Truth is, I love my car...

It might sound pathetic to some ppl, but hey... i work hard, i stay away from trouble, and manage to save a lil bit of money(somehow)
i dont care about what ppl think about me, whether i dump my money on it or not.
They dont pay my bills or feed me so...
its a privilege to me drive it everyday and mod it as i can.

Modding has been a love/hate relationship for me, and shamefully I admit at one time I was definitely obsessed. It cost me a lot in a number of ways but the main one was debt. I racked up a lot of credit card debt that ruined my college education and dug me a hole that I still crawling out of.

Since then (a couple of years ago) I've learned to prioritize and although it started off slow, I am finally getting back on my feet rather quickly. I work full time at night and go to community college part time during the day. It gives me a chance to pay off my credit card debt as well as study for school. I am also engaged which always helps me put things into perspective, I'd rather have a nice house and provide a good life for my wife and kids in the future than a nice car and broken marriage and family.

Now that's not to say that modding still isn't my hobby because I do enjoy it...I've just learned to tone it down immensely, and I bought a car that already had the majority of what I wanted done lol . But anyway, if I could have all the money back that spent years ago on all three vehicles....I would have definitely invested into furthering my education.

This verse has always me out whenever I feel the need to spend a mass amount of money on my car when I really don't need to (not using this as a religious stand-point, just taking the verses context):

Matthew 6:21- For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Working on my car is an addiction, and in all honesty, my addiction to cars has probably kept me from having an arrest record. Had I not spent all of my teen years (and now) in a garage instead of doing who knows what, where would I be? Sounds like an after-school special I know, but its true. I don't car about status, who has more JDM parts, who has more bling under the hood. I do it the way I want it, except for maybe a bit of input from some close friends. And had it not been for my addiction, I probably would have not met some of the amazing people I have met over the years.

Personally,
cars are a hobby for me and I have to say I wasn't that hooked before I bought my evo.. the thrill, the excitement, that sensation that only an evo can deliver would have to be why I would put my money on my car. I simply enjoy reliving the first moment I drove the evo, and everytime I put on something new I have this sense of awareness to feel the difference, its pure ecstasy
