Exclamation EVO VIIs in California

Got a call from a Mitsubishi dealer in Modesto on Tuesday letting me know that they will be getting 1 of 5 EVOs being sent to CA. for preliminary market tests. Dude told me they will have it for 6 months and I'm 3rd on the list to test drive it. Call your local Mitsu. dealer to see if they will be getting one. He said it's strictly for test drives only, not for sale.

ps:didn't have exact date on when it will arrive, but said "in a couple months"

Are you gullable or do you just like getting fooled? Why would a dealer offer test drives and lend a car for a day just to put miles on it and decrease it's value as well as screwing up its drivetrain?

I truly do not want to think that my future Evo was banged up before I thought I bought it brand new...

They're for test-drives only. After 6 months is up, they will be sent back or sold as used. The 5 being sent to CA. are to see what public opinion is for them. IE: to see how many to send to dealers when they finally arrive for sale. It's called marketing.

Honestly, IMO, they do not need to even market the car to get sales. from what I know and whom I've spoken too, everyone wants this damn car. If they're going to market more than what it is, most of us will be on the waiting list for awhile with huge markup prices. Or maybe this is what Mitsu wants, to fully exploit the car so they can get away with dealer markups, F that!!!!!

Maybe everyone you know wants this car, but the every day average joe has no clue. Even what has been printed about it in the major auto mags wich are about 1/3 page articles can easily be overlooked.

I am one of the few people at my work that is even aware of what this car is.

Oh believe me guy, everyone I know who has some sort of interest in cars and played the turismo game know about the coming of the Evo.
If Mitus is going to offer only a limited amount for the first couple months, guarantee they will be sold out!!!

I don't doubt that the EVO will sell for a second, however the car is still not mainstream. When the EVO is on the cover of every car mag it will get the attention it deserves. However the Camaro cut crowd and 5.0 boys will not know a thing about it untill they are looling at tail lights.

hose poop

I been a General Manager for many years. All manufacturers includiing Mitsubishi build pre-production vehicles for evalustions in cold climate/ warm climate testing (this is an existing model so that won't be done) and then later for company engineers at the tech centers and design center to make sure the product will deliver in they way it was concieved. NEVER has mitsu in my 9 years allowed an evaluation pre-production car to be used by consumers for any reason. It may be possible that one of these may make it to a dealer one day som of these same techs and Mitsu staff call on dealers as well. But do I believe that for days or even weeks at a time Mitsu will allow these "rough" pre production cars to become demonstrators?--NO WAY.
Sorry to burst your bubbles

Knowing about the car and actually buying the car are two totally different things. Sure there might be many Gran Turismo junkies who know about the car, but that doesn't mean they are going to buy them. Although, I do believe the car will be a hot commodity the first few months it is out, it does not mean that Mistu doesn't need to promote it. Remember, car ethusiasts will know about the car, but the average person will not. In order for the Evo to be profitable, more people than just the enthusiasts need to buy the car, since car enthusiast make up a small portion of sales. Average people need to know about the car in order for the car to succeed.

very good point HBK. How many of you guys/gals out there that consider yourself an enthusiast are actually going to buy an EVO? Besides, what's the best way to sell something? Let the people take a bite and then take it away.

Can't remember his name off hand. I'm at work right now, I think I wrote it down at home. I'll have to get back to you.
