MR Conversion: Badging, Shift knob, etc
So apparently there is some huge difference between an MR and a base 8. Check this out:

Again, Im doing it for styling. Afterall, that IS the only big difference between an 8 and an MR.... well except for the price tag. Who's the tool now?

you are right, there are tons of similarities between the different trim levels, BUT its those little differences that make them a completely different car in alot of ways...
and stock badging is not styling, its marketing....
ill be honest with you, if I ever saw a TOOL with a GSR or RS that had MR badges pasted up all over it trying to make it something it really isnt, Id rip that shish off right there on the spot....but im an a$$hole so....
theres a difference!! and if its just styling what is a red MR gonna do, the shift, guages and what not are okay but like everyone is saying... badging is not necessary
Aghhhh, really??????? Cmon, an average of less than 1 second on a track????! Most of the MR's "upgrades" is styling. Rims, Vortex generator, Shocks, Aluminum roof, and a 6 speed. I can live without the last two and have 90% of what makes an MR an MR

"The MR, on the other hand, is the full five courses--break out the vintage port, light up the Cuban cigars, damn the bill. While its appetizer tray of creature comforts is satisfyingly replete, the main course of go-fast componentry is an orgy of delectables: a six-speed manual topped by a palm-filling aluminum shift knob; lighter, one-piece BBS forged-alloy wheels; more subtly calibrated Bilstein shocks; and even aerodynamic vortex generators sprouting like spiked hair from the roof. If this car were any more serious, its grille would glower like Henry Kissinger's mug."
It clearly says how the MR is different from the rest. Along with how the Rs, and GSR are different as well.
that you still be you, because you FAIL again...

Without the aluminum roof, 6-speed, and Bilsteins, I would say you have 10% of what makes an MR an MR.
well then your completely missing the point. the reason it has a different name is because it has different PERFORMANCE parts. if it just had guages a knob and rims it wouldnt have a different name, it would just be an upgrade package.
Bottom line why mimic and MR if your not going to have the extra toys and more importantly the 6spd? the 6spd is what 110% sets it apart from the rest! not to mention the Bilsteins, aluminum roof, gauges (which is only shared with the RS unless you order them), etc, etc...
other than that, the wheels are a ton lighter, the VG "supposedly adds DF but i dunno about that, then again im not a rocket scientist, and the bilsteins are possibly the nicest most reliable and efficient struts you can get, sooooo i dont see how any of that stuff is really "styling". yes they do add to the over-all aesthetic appearance of the car, but they are on there for a purpose and styling is not the #1 reason....
Cmon guys, is there really that much of a difference??? The only things im not touching are the roof and the tranny.
look at other model vehicles:
V6 vs V8 GT mustang
V6 vs V8 Charger
Supra 2JZ-GE vs 2JZ-GTE, different rear diff
etc etc...
Really the difference between the VIII and the MR are pretty minimal...
